Every project has its driving force, and for Project500, it was our volunteers. Their dedication, teamwork, and commitment behind the scenes made everything possible.

They showed what it means to serve with intention by staying present, giving their best, and ensuring that every detail reflected care.

Their efforts are a reminder that lasting change is built by people who choose to show up and do the work, even when no one is watching.

Even after the event ended, the atmosphere stayed alive. The girls lingered, discussing and reflecting on what they had learned. You could tell the conversations had left an impression.

They held the props proudly, their excitement merging with a newfound sense of confidence. This is what a lasting impact looks like: not just a single day of outreach, but the beginning of awareness that will continue to grow long after we leave.

This image captures what words often can’t. Rows of girls seated and standing with their G.L.O.W kits, their faces lit with smiles that spoke of joy, pride, and hope.

Behind every smile is a story of challenges faced, of dreams rekindled, of confidence rediscovered, and each girl held her kit close, carrying with it a renewed sense of worth and possibility.

In that moment, the purpose of Project500 was clear: to remind every girl that dignity, health, and opportunity should never be out of reach.

Victoria’s session on “Building Healthy Friendships and Boundaries” focused on the value of supportive relationships. She discussed how friendships shape self-esteem and influence decision-making, emphasizing the importance of kindness, respect, and positive influence.

The discussion encouraged openness and helped the girls recognize that healthy friendships are essential to personal growth and well-being, leaving them with a deeper understanding that friendship is one of life’s quiet strengths.

Lady Bhie’s session on “Rooted in Purpose” inspired deep reflection. She reminded the girls that purpose isn’t found in perfection but in progress, showing up, believing in themselves, and never underestimating their worth.

Her words encouraged the girls to see themselves beyond their limitations and recognize that purpose begins with self-awareness. It was a moment of empowerment that left a lasting impression on everyone present.

By the end, you could feel a quiet shift: the kind that happens when girls realize they matter.

Dr. Allswell led an insightful session on “Feminine Health and Hygiene”, creating an open and engaging atmosphere for the girls. Her approach was honest, practical, and compassionate, turning what is often considered a taboo subject into an open and relatable conversation.

Through relatable discussions, she helped them understand their bodies, embrace healthy practices, and build confidence in managing personal hygiene.

It was a conversation that replaced uncertainty with knowledge and encouraged the girls to approach their well-being with confidence.

The morning began with movement and meaning. Volunteers arrived early at Offin-Ille Community Junior Secondary School, unpacking boxes, arranging chairs, and organizing materials to ensure that every detail was in place.

This was preparation with purpose, as every hand involved shared the belief that change starts with showing up. By the time everything was ready, the space had become more than just a venue. It had turned into a place of hope, learning, and possibility.

Today, we join the world to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, a day that celebrates the power, courage, and potential of the girl child under the theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead.”

For us at Project500, this theme captures everything we believe in: that change doesn’t begin around the girl, it begins within her. When she is equipped with knowledge, given access to education, and supported with dignity, she becomes the leader her community has been waiting for.

Yesterday, we stood with a number of girls, helping them understand their bodies, build confidence, and take ownership of their futures. Each of them is proof that leadership is not always loud, sometimes it starts with awareness, courage, and self-belief.

The girl child is not just a symbol of tomorrow. She is the change we need today.

D-Day is here!!!

Today, Project500 comes alive.

For months, we have counted down. For weeks, we have prepared. And today, we stand with 500 girls, ensuring that dignity is restored, menstrual education is prioritized, and silence is replaced with knowledge.

Period poverty has kept too many girls from classrooms, limited their opportunities, and silenced their voices. Today, we change that narrative. By showing up, we affirm that menstruation should never be a reason to lose confidence or miss out on a future.

Timed in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, Project500 is our way of affirming that the rights of girls matter. It is our contribution to a world where no girl is left behind simply because of her period.

Today is not the end of a countdown. It is the beginning of lasting change.
