The Aspire West African Youth Foundation is tailored after and aims to commemorate the United Nations (UN) International Youth Day which comes up on the 12th of August each year to recognise efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society. The objective of this foundation, in line with the UN directives is to promote and encourage West African Youth to be more actively involved in making
positive contributions to their communities. The activities of this foundation on that day may include youth conferences on issues such as education, career and employment; there may also be concerts promoting the world’s youth, parades and mobile exhibitions that showcase young people’s achievements. Some youth and individuals and organisations that support/promote youth activities are recognised and honoured with The West Africa’s Youth Awards and The West Africa Youth-Support Awards. Some youths are also given scholarships or employments as may be appropriate. The foundation also regularly organises foras for youth engagement and interaction. The aim is to direct youth to use their youthful vigour and talent to positively influence their environment. In an era where many of our youths are facing identity crises, which has been aggravated by a widespread lack of icons and role models within the sub-region and African in general.
