🚨🇧🇫 BREAKING NEWS📸💥: BURKINA FASO SUSPENDS BEAUTY PAGEANTS AS 84 YOUNG WOMEN SHINE IN NATIONAL SCIENCE COMPETITION! 🌍🔬
Burkina Faso has taken two significant steps in 2026: temporarily suspending beauty pageants while new regulations are developed, and launching a national science competition celebrating the talents of young women.

In September, 84 young women competed in mathematics, physics, and chemistry in the first edition of the HAKILI Mousso competition.

The initiative aims to encourage girls to pursue scientific careers and challenge stereotypes about women in science.

🏆 The top performers received prizes, including cash awards, computers, and other benefits. The programme also provides educational support to encourage the finalists to continue their studies.

Important clarification: The science competition was a separate initiative; it was not officially announced as a direct replacement for beauty pageants.

In October, Burkina Faso's culture minister also announced plans to allow beauty pageants to return in a revised format that promotes local culture and traditional values.

African girls deserve opportunities to excel in science, technology, education, and every field they choose.

What do you think? Should African countries invest more in science education for young women? Share your opinions with us in the comments section

In 1886, gold was discovered on South Africa’s Witwatersrand, triggering a mining boom, the rapid growth of Johannesburg, and transforming the country’s economy and political landscape.

💔 But behind the wealth were colonial rivalries, racial inequality, land dispossession, and the exploitation of African workers.

The big question is: Who truly benefited from Africa’s natural wealth, the people, the few elite or our Africa invaders?

🌎 🚨 BREAKING NEWS ⚡💥🎤🎥 : UNITED NATIONS SEARCH FOR NEXT SECRETARY-GENERAL FACES UNCERTAINTY

🌍 THE NEWS : NO CANDIDATE HAS SECURED SUPPORT FROM ALL FIVE PERMANENT UN SECURITY COUNCIL POWERS!

The race to choose the next Secretary-General of the United Nations has entered a critical stage after a new informal Security Council poll revealed that none of the seven candidates had secured support from all five permanent members.

The five powers—the United States, China, Russia, France, and the United Kingdom—each have veto power over the Council's recommendation.

Costa Rican diplomat Rebeca Grynspan emerged as the leading candidate in the latest poll, receiving nine votes of encouragement. However, she also received five votes of discouragement, including two from permanent members.

Other leading contenders include Rafael Grossi of Argentina and Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett of Guyana, but they too face opposition.

The next Secretary-General will succeed António Guterres, whose term ends on December 31, 2026.

The final appointment requires a Security Council recommendation followed by a decision of the UN General Assembly.

If elected, Grynspan would become the first woman to lead the United Nations in its more than 80-year history.

The world is watching: Who will emerge as the next leader of the United Nations at a time of global conflict and diplomatic uncertainty?

Do you think the time has come for a woman to lead the United Nations?

🌍🚨 BREAKING NEWS⚡💥🎤🎥: AFRICA TARGETS BIGGER SHARE OF GLOBAL MINERAL WEALTH!

Africa is taking new steps to strengthen its position in the global mining industry as the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) seeks investment opportunities in iron ore and uranium across the continent.

According to a Reuters report published on October 16, 2026, the Lagos-based financial institution is working towards financing projects involving these minerals, with investment announcements potentially expected within the next 6–12 months.

🌍 WEST AFRICA COULD BECOME A GLOBAL IRON ORE POWERHOUSE!

Guinea, Liberia, Mauritania and Sierra Leone have significant potential to expand iron ore production. AFC says their combined output could position the region among the world's top three iron ore producers by volume within the next decade.

Iron ore is essential for steel production, construction and industrial development, while uranium is used in nuclear power generation.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR AFRICA?

Increased investment could create jobs, improve transport infrastructure, attract international investors and strengthen African economies.

However, experts and policymakers must ensure that mineral wealth benefits local communities through responsible mining, environmental protection and local processing rather than simply exporting raw materials.

Africa must move beyond exporting its natural resources and build industries that create lasting wealth for its people!

📢 What do you think? Should African countries prioritise processing their minerals locally before exporting them to the world?
