Abuse can be physical, emotional, or psychological?

Abuse isn’t always visible, and silence often keeps victims trapped. Every woman deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.

It’s on all of us, families, communities, and society to speak up, support survivors, and break the cycle of violence.

Knowledge is power. Awareness is the first step to change. Let’s stand together and make safety and respect a non-negotiable right for every woman.

You can support us by sponsoring, volunteering or just sharing this post.

Surviving violence leaves invisible scars.
Fear, anxiety, guilt, and shame can linger long after the abuse ends.
Healing is not linear, but acknowledging the impact is the first step.

No woman should endure abuse alone. Speak up. Seek help. You are not broken; you are surviving.

New Publication Notice - Beacon of Hope (Volume 2)✨
This is not just a book, it is a powerful tool for women’s human rights advocacy in Nigeria. It is a compilation of sixteen (16) favourable judgements on women’s human rights cases from courts across Nigeria.
This publication serves as a vital resource for lawyers, law students, lecturers, judges, and all advocates working towards justice and equality.
Beacon of Hope strengthens advocacy for the promotion and protection of women’s right and we call on everyone to be a part of that change.
Together, we can promote zero tolerance for violence and strengthen the protection of women’s rights.

Since May 2001, Sophia’s Place; a shelter project of Project Alert has stood as Nigeria’s first safe haven for abused women and girls. For over two decades, it has opened its doors to survivors fleeing violence, offering them not just temporary accommodation, but also the chance to rebuild their lives in safety, dignity, and hope.

Every woman and girl who arrives at Sophia’s Place carries a story of courage. With your support, we can provide them with food, healthcare, counseling, and essential services that help them heal and regain independence.

Your generosity; no matter the amount, creates real change. It means a warm meal for someone who hasn’t eaten in days, medical care for a survivor in need, and the reassurance that she is not alone. Together, we can ensure that Sophia’s Place continues to shine as a refuge and a lifeline.

We LOVE to see bold children!

This young girl isn’t afraid to ask the question some adults wish they had the courage to ask.

She approached a celebrated writer, Chinamanda Adichie, Asking for her contact, seeking guidance, showing audacity, curiosity, and fearlessness. This is the kind of boldness we need to nurture in our children.

When children are brave enough to speak up, ask questions, and chase their dreams, they grow into women and men who are unafraid to break barriers, stand up for themselves, and achieve greatness. 💪

Parents, encourage audacity, not timidness. Let’s raise children who are fearless, confident

These conversations may feel uncomfortable… but silence leaves children unprotected.

Teaching your child about body boundaries, speaking up, and trusting you is one of the most powerful ways to keep them safe.

Start early. Keep it simple. Make it a safe space for them to talk—always.

Because one honest conversation can make all the difference. 💜

One of the many reasons some women remain in abusive marriages is lack of financial independence.

Studies and research consistently show that financial dependence is a major factor that keeps women trapped in abusive relationships. In fact, research highlights that abusers often use economic control to limit a woman’s ability to leave.

Some findings even reveal that women in abusive relationships experience declines in income and employment, making it even harder to walk away.

This is why empowerment is not optional.
It is essential.

Before settling down, equip yourself—learn a skill, build your income, secure your independence.
Not just for comfort, but for safety.

Because having your own means can be the difference between staying stuck… and choosing freedom.

19 years of impact. 19 years of empowering voices

Today, we celebrate the journey of Braveheart Initiative for Youth & Women. An organization that was set up to promote young people's sexual and reproductive health and advance women's rights in Nigeria.

Standing strong since 2007 in the fight for dignity, protection, and justice for women and young people. They have grown from awareness to action, from silence to bold voices and remain committed to creating safer spaces and brighter futures.

Here’s to the lives touched, the stories changed, and the work still ahead. 💪🏽
Happy 19th Anniversary BHI! 🎉

This is why we do what we do.

Women deserve to feel safe, protected, and respected in every space they exist.

Not just in words, but in actions.
Not just today, but every single day.

A safe society is one where women can live, work, love, and grow without fear. And that responsibility belongs to all of us.

This is why we do what we do.
To raise awareness. To speak up. To protect. To create change.

Stand with us. Speak up. Be part of the solution. 💜
