HON. ADEMORIN KUYE LEADS HOUSE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC ASSETS TO AKWA IBOM STATE ON STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT OVER IPP PROJECTS

As part of its constitutional oversight responsibilities and commitment to protecting critical national assets, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets, Hon. Ademorin Aliu Kuye, led members of the Committee on an official working visit to the Akwa Ibom State Government House, Uyo, where they held a strategic meeting with the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State,
Senator Akon Eyakenyi, serving alongside Governor Umo Eno. She is the first female to be democratically elected to the position in the state, with a career spanning teaching, the Federal cabinet, and the national senate. She served as a local government supervisor, State commissioner, and later as Nigeria's Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development. She also represented Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate prior to her election as deputy governor.

Also present were senior members of the State Executive Council.

The high-level engagement focused on strengthening collaboration between the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) towards safeguarding, revitalizing, and facilitating the completion of Independent Power Plant (IPP) projects within the state.

During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of protecting public investments in critical infrastructure, particularly power projects that have the potential to accelerate industrial growth, stimulate economic development, attract investment, and improve the quality of life for residents of Akwa Ibom State and the wider Niger Delta region.

Hon. Kuye reaffirmed the commitment of the House Committee on Public Assets to ensuring that valuable national assets are effectively managed, protected, and utilized for the benefit of Nigerians. He noted that the Committee remains dedicated to promoting accountability, transparency, and efficient asset management while supporting initiatives that contribute to sustainable national development.

The Deputy Governor welcomed the delegation and expressed the Akwa Ibom State Government's appreciation for the Committee's proactive oversight efforts. He reiterated the state's readiness to work closely with the National Assembly, NDPHC, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful completion and optimal utilization of the power infrastructure.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss practical strategies for resolving outstanding challenges affecting the projects, enhancing intergovernmental cooperation, and ensuring that public assets continue to deliver maximum socio-economic value to citizens.

Under the leadership of Hon. Ademorin Aliu Kuye, the Committee continues to champion initiatives that encourage accountability, responsible asset management, and collaborative engagement with federal and state institutions in pursuit of sustainable national growth.
