Be a DOER of the Word. Keep on practicing the Word. God won’t ask you to do something you can’t do! When He said do not fret, do not be anxious, be assured that adequate provision has been made to supply your needs. Anxiety is a devil's tool to hinder you from receiving what belongs to you!

DOING PHILIPPIANS 4:6

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. — PHILIPPIANS 4:6 (Amplified)

A minister once came to me for advice. There were many storms in his life, and I felt sorry for him. He couldn’t eat or sleep.

Just to sympathize with him wasn’t enough, so I had to read Philippians 4:6. “But everyone doesn’t have the faith you have,” he told me. “Yes, but they have the same Bible,” I replied, “and it’s a matter of practicing the Word.”

Then I showed him how to practice the Word: I read a verse aloud and then told the Lord, “Your Word is true, and I believe it.” When I first started practicing this verse, I believed I could make my requests known to God, but it was hard for me to believe I could keep from fretting. However, God won’t ask us to do something we can’t do.
So when God said not to fret, this means we can keep from fretting.

So I say aloud, “I refuse to fret or have any anxiety about anything.” Then I bring my requests to the Lord and thank Him for them. This quiets the troubled spirit the devil tried to make me have. If the devil tries to get me to worry again, I simply go back, reread this verse, and keep claiming it.

Confession
I am a doer of Philippians 4:6!

Acting on the Word of God means to act like the Word of God is so because it is. It is the evidence that you believe that God exists and that He rewards those who trust and obey Him. You will act on God's Word without any doubt, if you believe that His Word is true and that whatever He said it's yours in His Word is yours!

You Can Depend on God’s Word

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.—ISAIAH 40:8

Are you ready to act on the Word? What does it mean to “act on the Word”? It means to act like the Word of God is so, because it is.

Did you ever borrow money from a bank? Did you ever act on what the banker said? Well, I have.

I remember one time I wanted to buy an air conditioner for a travel trailer I had. I was holding a meeting in a certain place, and a man came up to me and said, “I’ll sell you one.” I had already priced them, and I knew I would be saving almost two hundred dollars if I purchased it from this man. Besides that, he said that he would install it. I was only at the meeting a few days, and I didn’t have that much money on me. And I didn’t have that much money in my bank account. So I made a long distance call to Mr. Mitchell, my banker.

I said, “Mr. Mitchell, I’m buying an air conditioner for my trailer, and I have to give this man a check. When I get home on Monday, I’ll come to the bank and sign a note. I don’t want to write the check without the money in my account.”

He said, “That’s all right, Brother Hagin. You just go ahead and write the check. We’ll put the money into your account.”
Well, I took his word for it. I knew him. And when I got home on Monday, I went to the bank and signed the note. Sure enough, the money was there just as Mr. Mitchell promised.

Confession:
I depend on God’s Word. If God said it, it’s true. If He said it’s mine, I believe it’s mine. According to the Word of God, healing is mine.

"First, God’s Word says, “Do not fret . . . .” If you’re going to fret and be anxious, it won’t do you any good to make requests. Your prayers will not work." Fear and anxiety will hinder your prayer from producing desired results!

REFUSING TO FRET

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. — PHILIPPIANS 4:6

The Amplified translation of this verse begins, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything . . . .”

Christians usually practice only part of this verse — the part that says to pray. But if we practice that part and not the part about not having anxiety, we’re not practicing the Word. We’re not being a doer of the Word.

First, God’s Word says, “Do not fret . . . .” If you’re going to fret and be anxious, it won’t do you any good to make requests. Your prayers will not work.

I read a story years ago about a man, his wife, and grown son, who were in a field chopping cotton. The son wasn’t quite right mentally. Storm clouds appeared, and it began to thunder, but the old man wanted to continue working. Then the lightning became bad. The family began to run for shelter. When it looked as though they weren’t going to make it, the parents fell to their knees and began to pray. “Come on, Ma and Pa,” the boy cried. “A scared prayer ain’t no account.”

There’s much truth to that. That’s what the Spirit of God is saying through Paul. So, when you pray, “Be careful for nothing . . . .”

Confession
I do not fret or have any anxiety about anything.

Jesus still speaks to us today, because He is here in Spirit. So if you’ll act upon His Words already written in the Bible, you’ll get results, because the written Word is given to us by the Holy Spirit. It’s inspired by the Spirit of God! There is no short cut than to TRUST and OBEY!

Make an Effort

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.—JAMES 1:22

Even when God speaks to you, you can choose not to act on it. The bedfast man who was let down through the roof didn’t have to act when Jesus said, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk” (Mark 2:11). He could have refused. But he came for results, so he made an effort to do what Jesus said.
When I was bedfast as a seventeen-year-old boy, the doctors said I had to die. My body was almost totally paralyzed. I couldn’t walk. I wasted away until I weighed only eighty-nine pounds.

When I began to act upon the Scriptures, I heard these words on the inside of me, “Now you believe you’re well. Get up then.” So I pushed my paralyzed body off the bed. I made an effort, just like the man in the Bible who was bedfast.

Well, Jesus still speaks to us today, because He is here in Spirit. He still speaks, just as He spoke to the man and said, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk.” And when He does, if you’ll act upon His Words, you’ll get results, because the written Word is given to us by the Holy Spirit. It’s inspired by the Spirit of God.

Confession:
When God speaks to me, I make an effort. I do what He tells me to do. He speaks to me through His Word, and I obey His Word. Then I receive the blessings that come as a result of obedience.

Don't just be a hearer of the Word. Don't just be a reader of the Word. Don't just be a talker of the Word. Don't just be an admirer of the Word. Don't just be a keeper of the Word. BA A DOER OF THE WORD! A doer of what is written in the Epistles (Romans - Jude). The Epistles are letters written to the children of God. The Epistles is the manual of life for a successful living. They belong to us, and we are to do them!

PRACTICING THE WORD

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. — JAMES 1:22

Your spirit can be developed by four things. We have just examined the first: meditation. Now we will look at the second: practicing the Word. Practicing the Word means being a doer of the Word.

There are talkers about the Word. And even rejoicers about the Word. But we don’t have many doers of the Word.
Begin to practice being a doer of the Word. Under all circumstances, do what the Word of God tells you to do.

Some think that being a doer of the Word is simply keeping the Ten Commandments. No, that’s not what James 1:22 means. After all, under the New Covenant, we have only one commandment — the commandment of love. If you love someone, you won’t steal from him. You won’t lie about him. Paul said that love is the fulfilling of the law. If you walk in love, you won’t break any law that was given to curb sin. So, if you’re a doer of the Word, you will walk in love.

But being a doer of the Word for New Covenant Christians means doing primarily what is written in the Epistles. Those are the letters written to the Church. They belong to us, and we are to do them.

Confession
I am a doer of the Word, not just a hearer only!

Obey the Voice of the Lord

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.—DEUTERONOMY 28:2

After the man who had been burned was healed, I took the next one aside and dealt with him individually. I asked him what was wrong with him. Then I said to him, “The Lord said, ‘Run!’” He whirled around and started running. Eleven out of the twelve were instantly healed as they obeyed God.

When I got to the twelfth one, I said, “Are you ready to run?” I thought she would be just as thrilled as the rest of them were and take off running. Instead, she said, “Oh, Brother Hagin, I can’t run. I have arthritis.”

I said to her, “Didn’t you hear as I talked to the other people? In fact, a woman who couldn’t even walk down to the front by herself was healed. Three men had to hold her up. She had arthritis, too, but as she started to run, her body straightened out and was all right. Did you see her?”

She said, “Yes, but I know I can’t do it.”
I answered, “All I know to do is tell you what the Lord told me. And you saw that eleven people have already been healed.”

She turned around and made one or two feeble steps. I said, “You got down here by yourself. Some of the rest of them had canes and crutches. You don’t even need a cane or a crutch.”

Then, without thinking, I said to her, “Turn around and look at me. You don’t want to run, do you? Something on the inside of you rose up against it, didn’t it?”

She said, “Yes, it sure did.”
I said, “You just go sit down and do without it. You’re not going to get it as long as you’re thinking like that.”

Confession:
I obey the voice of the Lord. I hearken unto His voice, and unto His Word, to do all of His commandments. Then I am blessed. Then I am healed.

MY MEDITATION

O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. — PSALM 119:97

A minister told me how he’d been trying to make a success of his church. If he heard of a pastor who was doing well, he would visit him and see what kind of program he had. Then he would try to put that man’s program into action in his church — but it never worked. And he’d fly all over the country doing this.

Then the pastor decided he would meditate in the Word the way he’d heard me teach. So he took a little time out each morning to meditate on the Word. He told me that after thirty days of meditating on the Word, one Sunday they had a landslide response. More people were saved than in the previous two or three years; his people were revived— and he began to have good success.

The ministry was this pastor’s life. That’s where he needed to have good success. Your life calling may be different. But it is certainly true that your way can also be prosperous, and you can have good success. Take time to meditate in the Word. Shut yourself in alone with your spirit. Shut the world out.

Confession
I will meditate in God’s Word. I will observe to do what His Word teaches. My way shall be prosperous. I shall have good success in life. I shall know how to deal wisely in the affairs of life. For the Word of God says so.

Obedience to God's Word puts your faith into action. When you obey God, you will do whatever His Word (and His Spirit) tells you to do. You will act in faith by backing up your faith with corresponding actions (works). Then you will receive what you have believed was yours. You will have the manifestation of your healing or heart desires!

Rise and Walk

Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.—JOHN 5:8

In 1950, I was preaching at a meeting in Oklahoma, and at the close of my sermon, the word of the Lord came to me saying, “Minister to those who have anything wrong with them from their hips down.” So I just spoke that out.

Well, twelve people came. The first man looked like he was sitting down, but he was scooting his feet along because his legs were drawn up. I asked him what was wrong, and he explained that he had been burned. In fact, that was the first day he had been out of bed in a whole year. He had spent six months in the hospital and six months in the bed at home. His legs were burned so deeply that the muscles and ligaments had left his legs drawn up.

When the Lord said to minister to these people, I thought He meant to lay hands on them. But as the people were coming down to the front, the word of the Lord came to me again saying, “Don’t touch a single one of them. Don’t pray for them. Deal with each one of them individually, not as a group. Say to them, ‘The Lord told me to tell you to run down that aisle and back up this aisle, and you’ll be healed.’”

I said to the man who had been burned, “Can you run?” It so startled him that he just said, “No, I can’t walk, much less run.”

I said, “Well, the Lord told me to tell you to run down that aisle and back up this one, and you’ll be healed.” That man never doubted for a minute. He started scooting as fast as he could. He scooted down one aisle and back up the other one. And he was no better. Well, when God speaks to you, don’t give in to the devil.

I said, “Do it again.” He did it again. When he came by me, the Spirit of God came on me, and before I knew what I was doing, I leaped off the platform and took him by the arm and ran down that aisle with him. When we ran up the other aisle, he was running as well as I was! His legs were straight!

Confession:
I obey God. Whatever He tells me to do, I do. I act in faith, and I back up my faith with works, with corresponding actions. Then I see what I have believed was mine. I see the manifestation of my healing.

If you desire a good success and prosperity in life, just obey the Word of God in Joshua 1:8. That scripture contains the key to unlock your God-given package of His goodness for you. Take time every day to meditate in God’s Word. And His promise “. . . for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” will manifest in your life!
(Psalm 1:2,3)
