This shows just how significantly rotten the systems of security agencies have become.

Even within their ranks, there is inequality and abuse of power.

How, then, should the ordinary Nigerian survive their unwarranted wrath?

It’s deeply troubling that police officers, whose duty is to protect, would resort to extorting a citizen—especially when that person is on their way to support a cause like .

This abuse of power is not just an injustice, it’s a betrayal of the public’s trust. The Ondo Police unit “Scorpion” must face real consequences for this, so these acts don’t keep happening.

Our communities deserve better, and it’s high time we held those responsible accountable.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the 10 protesters facing treason charges, but with an outrageous N10 million bond and a requirement for sureties with landed property.

This is not just punitive—it’s a deliberate effort to keep them imprisoned. Protest is not a crime, and such extreme conditions only serve to silence those who are standing up against hunger and injustice.

If they could afford such bail, they wouldn’t be protesting in the first place. This response is deeply unfair and unjust.

Protesters are being charged with treason for simply demonstrating their constitutional right. Protesters are being treated like criminals and treasonous individuals when all they demanded for is a good government

It is a dangerous time for Nigeria as its democracy is threatened not by external elements but by its security agencies who have now decided to create a pattern wherein it arrest peaceful demonstrators.

This is very uncalled for as protest isn’t a crime and should not be treated as such.

When policemen are not kidnapping Nigerians and demanding ransom for their release, they are robbing them.

This is the madness and criminality that the police force continues to engage in. No discipline, just an organization full of criminals who pretentiously wear the uniform of protectors.

, these men are among your ‘elite’ officers whom you claim are dependable and trustworthy. When will this end?

News like this only strengthens the belief that the Nigerian Police Force has become a breeding ground for criminals.

A policeman, who is supposed to uphold the law, ends up committing murder to cover up a theft.

When will this madness end? It’s beyond comprehension.

Protesters are now being held in police custody ‘pending investigations’ a pattern that, based on past incidents, often results in extended detentions without any real progress.

Peaceful protest is not a crime, yet it’s becoming alarmingly clear that in Nigeria, it’s often treated as such. These individuals are entitled to voice their concerns and deserve to be released unconditionally, without further delay.

BREAKING: Six protesters have just been released after being unjustly detained since 2020. Though free, their conviction after years of wrongful imprisonment is a huge reminder that demanding accountability in Nigeria’s democracy carries a heavy price.

Connect Hub is outraged by this injustice. Criminalizing peaceful protestors sends a dangerous message that fighting for dignity and safety is punishable, a grave setback for our democracy.

This isn’t just an overreach of power; it’s pure terror inflicted on innocent people.

It’s heartbreaking, yet sadly, not entirely surprising given the notorious reputation of the Nigerian police for such brutal tactics.

It’s infuriating that in 2024, we’re still witnessing these kinds of atrocities from those who are meant to uphold the law.

This is the exact kind of behavior that needs to be rooted out if there’s any hope for real change. No one should have to live in fear of the very people who are supposed to protect them.

Why is there a general assumption among security agencies that a simple and peaceful protest is an attempt to “burn down the country?”

This is becoming very disturbing and perhaps resembles an intentional attempt to demonize the act of protesting.

It must stop!

The Nigerian police are detaining youths and demanding unreasonable fees for their release.

Policemen are gradually resorting to such tactics, and it is unfortunate that the police have become an organization that participates in crime rather than defending citizens from it.

, is this what you have now become? A criminal organization detaining youths and seeking money?
