Awareness and Skills TRaining on Adolescent Health Initiative (ASTRAH) ASTRAH is an acronym for Awareness and Skills TRaining on Adolescent Health. ASTRAH also focuses on bridging the communication gap between parents and children.

It is a non-Governmental Health Initiative founded since October 23rd 1999 but fully recognized in 2011. ASTRAH was established to address the growing health needs of adolescents especially in the area of sexual and reproductive health. It is also noteworthy to highlight the unacceptable sexual and reproductive health status of these groups of individuals due to risky behaviours and other socio-ec

onomic factors. Therefore ASTRAH’s commitment focuses on bringing about positive health outcomes as well as attaining long-term sustainable and affordable results through provision of life-skills based health education and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services. Evidence has shown that a healthy parent-child communication is key to establishing the family as a protective factor in an adolescent's life. Of course ASTRAH stays committed to out-of school kids and hard-to-reach kids. We bring information right at their feet and teach them life-skills / vocational skills.
