*A Christmas Message of a Developed Nigeria*

Dear Fellow Citizens,
As the bells of Christmas ring out across our beloved nation, we are reminded of the timeless message of this sacred season: peace on earth, and joyful moments for all.

This year, we have faced trials that have tested our spirit and shaken our foundations.

The weight of uncertainty and hardship has been heavy upon us. Yet, Christmas calls us to look beyond the shadows and toward the stars. It calls us to renew our hope, faith, and rebuild our bonds, and believe in the power of love to heal even the deepest wounds.
To the families grieving loss, to those struggling to make ends meet, to the weary and the brokenhearted—know that you are not alone.

This season, let the spirit of Christmas remind us that brighter days lie ahead. Like the star that guided the wise men to Bethlehem, let faith guide us forward, illuminating our path through the darkness.

We are stronger together. Let us draw on our shared humanity, embracing kindness, compassion, and understanding as our guiding principles.

This is a time to extend a helping hand to a neighbor in need, to forgive old grievances, and to plant seeds of unity that will bloom into a better tomorrow.

As we gather in our homes, around tables, or in humble quiet, let us reflect on the message of Christmas: that love conquers hate, hope overcomes despair, and purposeful work transforms.
May this Christmas be a time of healing for our Nation.

May it inspire us to rebuild what has been broken and to work tirelessly for a future where peace and prosperity touch every corner of our land.
From our hearts to yours, we wish you a Christmas filled with warmth, joy, and hope. Together, we can make the promise of this season a lasting reality for all.
Merry Christmas, and may God bless us all.

School-based Education for Drug Abuse Prevention Program

Cities of Peace initiative had school-based education for drug abuse prevention programs in Lagos schools early in June. The organization undertook sensitization on drug abuse and its consequences in schools. The workshops were on attitudinal change, the dangers of drug and substance abuse, and also being mindful of social media influence, peer group pressure, and influence, etc. The facilitators included specialists on drugs, health, and education. Cities of Peace initiative utilized drama, art, and visuals as a learning experience to practically illustrate the negative effects of drug and substance abuse.
The workshops generated significant interest and engagement among the pupils, and students.
The rate at which youths are becoming addicted to illicit drugs has reached an alarming rate in Nigeria, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), 40% of Nigerian youth are ‘deeply involved’ in drug abuse.
Cities of Peace Initiative education for Drug Abuse Prevention Among Nigerian Youth is aware of the fact that the Lagos Assembly had passed various resolutions on the need to curb the sale and consumption of hazardous drugs and substances, but the organization calls on the government, parents, teachers, and stakeholders as a matter of urgency to change how we as a society address alcohol and drug misuse and substance use disorders. Substance misuse and substance use disorders harm the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Addressing them requires the implementation of effective strategies, consistent School-based Education for Drug Abuse Prevention Programs, addressing the wide range of interacting factors that influence substance misuse and substance use disorders in different communities, and coordinating efforts across diverse stakeholders to achieve reductions in both.
