*“POSTERITY IS SENIOR TO PROSPERITY”* — _Pst Moses Nwanna_
This timeless statement by our PG speaks directly to the heart of what we are doing with the Umuduru Road Rehabilitation Project (URRP) and other development efforts in Umuduru.
*PROSPERITY* is about now — comfort, convenience, and immediate benefits. But *POSTERITY* is about tomorrow — legacy, continuity, and what remains long after we are gone.
In Umuduru, the road we are building today is not just for our personal use. It is not merely to ease our movement or to boost today’s economic activities. It is a foundation we are laying for generations yet unborn — our children, their children, and the identity of Umuduru as a progressive and organized community.
If our forefathers had chosen prosperity over posterity, we would not have inherited the land and the values we enjoy today. Therefore, we too must think beyond ourselves.
Every contribution to URRP is more than a donation — it is a statement:
✨That we care about the future of Umuduru
✨That we refuse to pass on neglect and hardship
✨That we are committed to building a community that will outlive us
Development is not measured only by what we enjoy, but by what we leave behind. A good road today becomes:
✨Economic access tomorrow
✨Safety and connectivity for future families
✨A symbol of unity and collective responsibility
The same principle applies to every other development effort in Umuduru — education, health, security, and community infrastructure. These are seeds of posterity. We already have shining examples among us: the E-Library project by the Theresa and William Okorie Foundation, the payment of youth corpers’ allowances by Hon. Emma Ozuzu and Pastor Joshua Emeruem, the installation of solar street lights by Chief Dom Okafor, and the supply of portable water by Ikenna Nwaozuzu. We have also seen impactful empowerment initiatives by the Louise and Scholar Nwoko Foundation, the donation of a corpers’ lodge, tables, and mattresses by William Okorie Children, the building and donations of school blocks by Mr. and Mrs. Augustine Olumba, and the payment of non-government teachers by the PG and his partners. These noble efforts, and many more, are living proofs that posterity is already being written in Umuduru today.
*And here is the deeper question for all of us:*
When POSTERITY opens its book… will your name be found?
Will it be said that you were part of those who rose when it mattered?
That you gave, supported, encouraged, and stood for Umuduru?
Or will your page be blank?
Let us not be distracted by the mindset of “what do I gain now or what will Umuduru do for me?” Instead, let us embrace the higher calling of “what will Umuduru become because of us?” Because in the end, PROSPERITY fades…
But POSTERITY speaks.
Let us build for tomorrow. Let us build for Umuduru.
