Fasting and health

It's been a really interesting discussion in our topic today, as we wrap up let's take a review of the key points and recommendations when it comes to fasting

1. Fasting when done should be done with supervision
2. Vulnerable age groups are not advised to fast, (this includes pregnant lactating mothers)
3. Fasting helps in blood glucose regulation and also weight management
4. After fasting, food should be taken in moderation and not in large quantities
5. Hydration during fasting is not out of place depending on the individual needs
6. If during fasting any adverse change is noticed... Please consult your doctor.

NIFST FIIRO ZONE EXPLORES LAGOS FRESH FOOD HUB IN MUSHIN

The Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (Lagos Chapter), FIIRO Zone went on a market visit today as part of continued efforts to ensure availability of safe and healthy food in the nation

The Fresh Food Hub is a market run by Lagos state government and it has vendors and buyers come to transact in purchase of fresh agricultural produce and packaged food products

In the course of the visit, members of NIFST shared PPEs to the traders as part of the safe food campaign which the institute has as a plan on the fore.

The management of the market led by Mrs. Oluranti Sagoe-Oviebo were impressed with the visit and promised for more collaborative efforts between both parties.
