New week, and it opens with World Teachers' Day.

Good place to start. Before we get to outreach, follow-ups, planning for October β€” there are teachers across Nasarawa State walking into classrooms today, doing what they always do, mostly unnoticed.

Almost every young person we work with can name one teacher who believed in them first. Nobody writes that into a report. It's usually where everything else starts from anyway.

So before our own list this week: thank you. To the teacher who notices the quiet kid. The one who stays five minutes late for one more question.

If you teach or run a school in Nasarawa and want to work with us, send us a message.

Happy 30th anniversary, Nasarawa State.

Thirty years ago, the state began. What matters more than the number is who actually built it β€” the people, the communities, the cultures that made it what it is.

The Nasarawa @30 celebrations have brought some real conversations forward: unity, peace, development, where the state goes from here.

For NACWYCA, that conversation keeps landing on the same place β€” young people. A stronger Nasarawa needs young people who get to learn, lead and actually contribute. It needs communities with support behind them, and people who are vulnerable not getting left out.

Thirty years in, there's still work left. We know it.

Happy 30th Anniversary, Nasarawa State.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!

Another year of independence. It's a good day to think less about the flag-waving and more about what we actually do with the time in between.

At NACWYCA, that means giving people room to participate, lead and contribute, in youth development, in community action, and in the harder work of supporting people who've been left out. That's the job, independence day or not.

If there's a theme worth taking from today, it's this: work together instead of apart, show up instead of looking away, and do something instead of waiting for someone else to.

Nigeria's future doesn't get built by hoping for it. It gets built community by community, person by person.

Happy Independence Day.

Happy new week from NACWYCA Lafia Chapter!

October begins on Thursday, so this week we're closing out September and getting ready for the new month. We'll be following up on ongoing work, checking in with our partners, and making sure our plans for October are clear before it starts.

Community work doesn't stop when the calendar flips. It runs on showing up, week after week, and most of that happens in the ordinary days between the big events.

To our partners, volunteers and supporters: thank you for staying with us. We'd like to hear from you too. Is there something you'd like to see more of from us in October? Tell us in the comments.

Have a good week, everyone.

On Friday, 18th September 2026, the NACWYCA Food Security and Malaria Prevention (FSM) Project team conducted a Monitoring and Supervision Visit across Kokona, Akwanga and Wamba LGAs.

The team, comprising the Project Coordinator, Referral Officer and M&E Officer, visited communities to monitor ongoing project activities, including livestock, home gardens and communal farms.

The communities visited included Angwan Loko in Garaku, Gudi and Arum Sarki.

The team also engaged with caregivers and Community Case Workers to identify challenges, discuss practical solutions and strengthen the implementation of project activities.

Health facilities were also visited to strengthen collaboration, build stronger partnerships and support improved service delivery to beneficiaries.

The MSV is part of NACWYCA's routine monthly activities to ensure effective project implementation and quality service delivery across the communities we serve.

Working with communities. Strengthening partnerships. Improving lives.

New week, and today is the International Day of Peace.

Here's the thing about peace: it's not really the absence of conflict. It's what happens when people have somewhere to take a disagreement before it turns into something bigger.

That's the whole point behind civic education. Knowing your rights. Understanding how decisions get made in your community. Having somewhere to raise your voice when something affects you. When people have that, they're less likely to feel like shouting is the only option left.

This is part of what NACWYCA works on, week in and week out.

Tag someone who's always the one keeping the peace in your community πŸ‘‡

Mrs. Enaroreje Augustina is NACWYCA's new Acting Executive Director, taking over from Dr. Nawani Aboki at a handover ceremony in Lafia on Monday, 14th September, 2026.

In his remarks, Dr. Aboki used the moment to make a wider point, that NGOs doing humanitarian and community work aren't optional extras, they're covering ground government can't reach alone. Turning to Mrs. Augustina, he said her experience gives him confidence she'll run things well, and asked NACWYCA's staff and partners to back her fully as she settles in.

Mrs. Augustina thanked him for his years leading the organisation and the trust he's placed in her, and said she'll work closely with the team to keep NACWYCA's mission moving.

Congratulations, Mrs. Augustina β€” and thank you, Dr. Nawani Aboki, for your leadership at NACWYCA. The work continues: empowering women, developing young people, strengthening communities across Nasarawa State.

A cough.
A fever.
Stomach pain that won't quit. At what point does "I'll manage" turn into "I should probably get this looked at"?
Our rule of thumb: two days with no improvement, or things trending worse instead of better, that's when you stop waiting and get to the nearest health centre.

We see the delay constantly. Somebody puts off the clinic because right now it feels like money or time they don't have. Almost always, the illness ends up costing more of both. Malaria on day 2 is a quick, cheap fix. The same malaria on day 8 is a much bigger problem β€” and a much bigger bill. Kids especially: a fever that hangs on in a child needs faster attention than the same fever would in an adult.

Nobody's saying rush to a clinic over a headache. Just don't sit on something this easy to fix while it turns into something that isn't. Go early. It's usually the cheapest, least dramatic version of getting better you'll get.

A NEW WEEK, A CONTINUING IMPACT

As we begin a new week, we look back with gratitude on the impact of the 25th Anniversary Summer Youth Camp.

From learning and leadership to creativity, entrepreneurship, and meaningful connections, the camp created an environment where young people could learn, grow, and prepare for the future.

The celebration may be over, but the lessons, relationships, and inspiration continue.

This week, we encourage every young person to take what they have learned, put it into action, and continue becoming the leader they are capable of becoming.

New week. New opportunities. Lasting impact.

NEW WEEK, NEW POSSIBILITIES!

A new week is another opportunity to learn something new, take a step closer to your goals, and make a meaningful difference.

At NACWYCA, we believe that every young person has the potential to learn, lead, grow, and connect.

As you step into this week, embrace every opportunity to grow, keep moving forward, and remember that the future is shaped by the choices we make today.

Here's to a week of growth, purpose, impact, and new possibilities. πŸ’™
