The Executive Chairman of Lavun Local Government Council, Hon. Muhammad Alfa Ma’ali, today continued his participation in the ongoing 2-Day Dialogue on Advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Through Joint Strategic Local Government Area Leadership in Niger State.

As part of the programme, Hon. Ma’ali delivered a remarkable presentation on the role of Local Governments in collaborating with the Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen healthcare services and improve the wellbeing of citizens across Lavun Local Government and Niger State as a whole.

Representing his discussion group, Hon. Ma’ali distinguished himself through insightful contributions, practical recommendations, and innovative solutions aimed at improving healthcare delivery, immunization coverage, and community health services, particularly at the grassroots level.

His presentation attracted a standing ovation from participants, while representatives of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Niger State Commissioner for Health, the Director of FMC Bida, development partners, and other key stakeholders commended his depth of knowledge, leadership capacity, and commitment to the development of the health sector.

The session further highlighted Hon. Ma’ali’s dedication toward promoting quality and accessible healthcare services for the people, as participants described his presentation as impactful, inspiring, and solution-driven.

Hon. Muhammad Alfa Ma’ali, the Executive Chairman of Lavun Local Government Council, has paid a sympathy visit to communities affected by the heavy windstorm that struck last night.

The visit covered Emi Worongi, Danchitagi, Kpachitagi, Dukugi, and Lanchikagi where several homes and schools suffered severe damage. Roofs were blown off, buildings collapsed and valuable properties destroyed, leaving many families in distress.

During the visit, the Chairman expressed deep sympathy with the affected residents over the unfortunate incident. He offered prayers for Allah’s protection and ease, asking that the Almighty grant quick recovery to all those impacted and restore what has been lost.

He assured the victims that the government feels their pain and stands firmly with them during this difficult time. Necessary records of the affected households and extent of damages have been duly taken to facilitate swift government intervention and support.

He immediately engaged and paid NEPA staff to urgently remove fallen poles and hanging wires by the roads in order to prevent further damage, reduce safety risks, and avoid possible theft of exposed electrical materials.

In addition , the Chairman provided relief to some of the affected residents by offering welfare support of cash donations to those who were injured and in urgent need of assistance.

He also extended cash donations as part of his welfare support to elders, women, and youths across the communities, as well as to health students he met at the primary healthcare center during his inspection of the affected areas.

The Chairman reassured the communities of the government’s concern and solidarity, highlighting the importance of unity and collective support in overcoming such challenges.

COURTESY VISIT TO 1 NATIONAL MISSION FORCE BRIGADE & 18 BRIGADE, LITANI BARRACKS BIDA.

The Executive Chairman of Lavun Local Government Council, Hon. Muhammad Alfa Ma’ali alongside the Council Secretary Hon. Abdullahi Adamu, Col. Liman Jiya Doko, LG Directors and others, paid a courtesy visit to the 1 National Mission Force Brigade and the 18 Brigade at Litani Barracks Bida.

The visit served as a familiarization and strategic engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration and reinforcing mutual support in addressing security challenges within Lavun Local Government Area.

As part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to enhancing civil-military relations, discussions focused on:

* Strengthening intelligence sharing
* Improving rapid response to emerging threats
* Promoting community-based security initiatives

The Council reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the Brigades in their duties and emphasized the importance of sustained partnership in safeguarding lives and property across the Local Government.

During the visit, the Commanders led the delegation on a tour of key facilities within the Barracks, including the swimming pool, officers’ mess, a renovated school, and the Army Day Secondary School. The tour also provided an opportunity to assess the condition of these facilities, particularly the school.

In their remarks, the Commanders appreciated the visit and assured the Council of their continued cooperation in strengthening security and promoting community development in Lavun LGA.

Lavun Local Government participated in Smart Farming Empowerment Programme.

Lavun Local Government Area actively participated in the Smart Farming Empowerment Programme held in Minna, Niger State, aimed at equipping participants with modern agricultural knowledge and techniques to enhance food production and sustainability.

The programme focused on practical training in smart farming practices, with particular emphasis on the cultivation of red and green pepper. Participants received hands-on guidance on effective planting methods, crop management and harvesting techniques. It was highlighted that pepper plants can remain productive for up to two years, allowing for continuous harvesting and improved yield over time.

The Lavun delegation was led by Mohammed Alhaji Shabafu and Kudu Bashir Muhammad, who coordinated the team’s engagement throughout the training. Their leadership ensured active participation and successful knowledge transfer to all members of the team.

In a show of commitment to agricultural development and youth empowerment, the Executive Chairman of Lavun Local Government, Hon. Muhammad Alfa Ma'ali, provided financial support to the participants to cover their logistics.
At the conclusion of the training, each participating Local Government team was provided with starter packs to support the immediate application of the skills and knowledge acquired during the programme.

Hon. Muhammad Alfa Ma’ali, Executive Chairman of Lavun Local Government, today hosted members of the Rugga Chibo community, Dassun Ward in a productive meeting focused on addressing their key developmental needs.

During the engagement, the community presented several requests and recommendations, including improved access to affordable healthcare, renovation of school facilities, and the provision of teachers and learning materials. They also highlighted the need for clean and safe drinking water through solar-powered boreholes, sanitation awareness campaigns, and greater support for farmers through inputs and modern agricultural training.

In his prompt response, Hon. Ma’ali approved the immediate repair of two boreholes in the community, as part of his administration’s target to rehabilitate 100 boreholes across Lavun Local Government. He further assured the people that a primary healthcare worker will be deployed to cater to their health needs.

He added that, Insha’Allah, more interventions are underway, including the renovation of selected schools and the rollout of programs aimed at empowering women within the community.

Hon. Ma’ali also urged residents to remain security conscious, advising them to be vigilant and avoid accommodating unfamiliar individuals in order to protect lives and property.

Speaking on behalf of the Rugga Chibo community, Hon. Abdullahi Rugga appealed to the Executive Chairman to help facilitate the completion of the remaining 1.5km of the Stwayan–Rugga road through His Excellency, the Governor of Niger State. The 3.5km road project was initially facilitated by Hon. Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi, former member of the House of Representatives for Lavun, Edati, and Mokwa Federal Constituency and current Chief of Staff to the Niger State Governor. So far, 2km has been completed, leaving 1.5km outstanding.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Ma’ali appreciated the visit and assured the community that their concerns would receive due attention, in line with the Farmer Governor’s New Niger Agenda and his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.

Together, we move forward for a better Lavun.
