Hon. Muhammad Alfa Ma’ali, Executive Chairman of Lavun Local Government, today hosted members of the Rugga Chibo community, Dassun Ward in a productive meeting focused on addressing their key developmental needs.
During the engagement, the community presented several requests and recommendations, including improved access to affordable healthcare, renovation of school facilities, and the provision of teachers and learning materials. They also highlighted the need for clean and safe drinking water through solar-powered boreholes, sanitation awareness campaigns, and greater support for farmers through inputs and modern agricultural training.
In his prompt response, Hon. Ma’ali approved the immediate repair of two boreholes in the community, as part of his administration’s target to rehabilitate 100 boreholes across Lavun Local Government. He further assured the people that a primary healthcare worker will be deployed to cater to their health needs.
He added that, Insha’Allah, more interventions are underway, including the renovation of selected schools and the rollout of programs aimed at empowering women within the community.
Hon. Ma’ali also urged residents to remain security conscious, advising them to be vigilant and avoid accommodating unfamiliar individuals in order to protect lives and property.
Speaking on behalf of the Rugga Chibo community, Hon. Abdullahi Rugga appealed to the Executive Chairman to help facilitate the completion of the remaining 1.5km of the Stwayan–Rugga road through His Excellency, the Governor of Niger State. The 3.5km road project was initially facilitated by Hon. Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi, former member of the House of Representatives for Lavun, Edati, and Mokwa Federal Constituency and current Chief of Staff to the Niger State Governor. So far, 2km has been completed, leaving 1.5km outstanding.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Ma’ali appreciated the visit and assured the community that their concerns would receive due attention, in line with the Farmer Governor’s New Niger Agenda and his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
Together, we move forward for a better Lavun.
