STEAMINIST SPOTLIGHT

Meet Gata Garba Bitrus, an aspiring application developer whose journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, determination, and continuous learning.

When Gata began her journey into application development, coding was completely unfamiliar territory. The world of programming felt challenging, complex, and overwhelming. Yet, instead of giving up, she chose to embrace every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Through dedication, consistent practice, and the courage to keep moving forward despite setbacks, she gradually built her skills and confidence. Every line of code written and every problem solved became another step toward achieving her goals.

Today, Gata's story reminds us that success is not about where you start but about your willingness to learn, persist, and believe in your potential. Her journey demonstrates that with determination and resilience, anyone can break barriers and create opportunities in technology.

As she continues to grow in application development, Gata is excited to build innovative solutions, expand her technical skills, and inspire more young women to pursue careers in technology.

💜 Together, we can end GBV.

We are honored to be recognized as an Official Nominee for the 2026 Global Arts Prize for Innovation.

This nomination celebrates our belief that theatre can do more than entertain; it can challenge harmful norms, amplify unheard voices, heal communities, and inspire collective action.

Through our participatory and interactive theatre productions, from Bunk Talk The Musical to other community performances. We have worked alongside women, girls, survivors, and crisis-affected communities across Nigeria to spark conversations on gender equality, child marriage, gender-based violence, disability inclusion, and social justice.

From the stage to the community, we have witnessed how storytelling can transform silence into dialogue and dialogue into action.

We are grateful to the Global Leaders Institute for this recognition and to every actor, survivor, community member, and supporter who continues to prove that theatre remains one of the most powerful tools for social change.

The story continues.

Happy Children’s Day from The Girl Child Values Support Initiative.

Today, we celebrate the strength, brilliance, creativity, and dreams of every child, especially girls and children growing up in crisis-affected and underserved communities.

At The Girl Child Values Support Initiative, we believe every child deserves:
Quality education,
Safety and protection,
Good health and well-being,
The freedom to dream boldly,
and equal opportunities to thrive.

Through storytelling, sports, technology, education, arts, and community-led action, we continue working to build a world where children are not limited by poverty, violence, displacement, or discrimination.

Every child carries greatness.
Every voice matters.
Every dream deserves a chance.

“Children are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the hope, creativity, and power shaping today.”

This Children’s Day, we stand in solidarity with the 46 children kidnapped in Oyo State and their families. Every child deserves safety, love, education, and freedom from fear. We pray for their safe return and call for stronger protection for all children across Nigeria. Every child matters.

Happy Children’s Day to every child changing the world with courage and joy.
