Clark Inspects Road Projects as Residents Hail Oborevwori for Transforming Delta Riverine Communities

Hope is rising across the riverine communities of Ijaghala and Kantu in Warri South-West Local Government Area as the Delta State Government intensifies efforts to improve infrastructure and connectivity in previously underserved areas.

The Delta State Commissioner for Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark, led an inspection tour of ongoing road construction projects in the two communities, assessing the pace and quality of work while engaging directly with residents and project engineers.

The visit revealed significant progress on roads expected to transform transportation, stimulate economic activities, and improve access to essential services for thousands of residents. Construction equipment was actively deployed on-site as workers continued efforts to deliver the projects on schedule.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing durable infrastructure that meets the needs of riverine communities, emphasizing that development must reach every part of the state regardless of geographical challenges.

Speaking during the inspection, Chief Clark said: "Governor of our dear state, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is a Governor who believes that every nook and cranny of the state deserves equal opportunities for development, and the riverine communities are no exception.

"Our people are very happy because they have not witnessed this level of development before, and the Governor has come to change the narrative, especially in riverine areas with difficult terrain."

Community members expressed optimism about the projects, describing the roads as a long-awaited intervention that will ease movement, boost trade, and reduce the years of hardship caused by poor access routes.

Project engineers also provided updates on construction milestones, assuring stakeholders that work is progressing according to schedule while maintaining the required quality standards.

For many residents, the ongoing road projects represent more than just infrastructure; they symbolize inclusion, economic opportunity, and a renewed connection to the wider state economy.

Residents of Kantu and Ijaghala communities expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving and executing the projects. Among those who spoke were Chief Arthur Iyagu, Ibibio Ezekiel, Elder Samson Menekoko, the Woman Leader of Ijaghala Community, Mrs. Renieri Grace, Mr. Okoturu Edwin, and Toju Ebitor.

They described the road projects as life-changing, noting that they have improved the physical outlook of the communities while addressing longstanding challenges such as flooding, erosion, and poor accessibility.

According to them, the lack of internal roads had hindered movement within the communities and made travel to neighbouring communities difficult for many years.

The community leaders pledged their continued support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's administration, saying the projects have enabled them to experience the dividends of democracy firsthand.
