The United Nations declared 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP), led by FAO to highlight the vital role of rangelands and pastoral communities worldwide.
Rangelands cover over half of the Earth’s land surface and support millions of livelihoods, especially in drylands, contributing to food security, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
IYRP 2026 promotes land rights, pastoral mobility, sustainable rangeland management, and responsible investment in restoration and livestock value chains.
UNCCD COP17 serves as a global platform where governments negotiate land and drought policies and commit to Land Degradation Neutrality targets.
Together, IYRP 2026 and COP17 create a historic opportunity to place pastoralists at the center of global land, climate, and sustainable development action.

Green Job and Youth Empowerment in GECCI

Early hour of the day, Friday 11th February, 2022, the MD of the Citizens Helpline Engr. Engr Abba Sani Kurawa, and his team in conjunction with the CEO of GECCI, Abdulhamid Tahir Hamid, Director of Green Job and Youth Empowerment, Amb. Nasir Abdullahi Tafida, and also Kano State President, Amb. Umar Ismail Ibrahim.they were started distribution of the mobile NIN machines to GECCI members in Kano State for the conducting of NIN registration of the citizens of the state.
The ad-hoc registration exercise is a window of job opportunities for our members and the registration will be carried out across Nigeria by our members..
