NEW YEAR MESSAGE (2026)
From the Global President
International Youth Development Forum for Peacebuilding and Empowerment Foundation (IYDEF-PEF)

As we welcome the New Year 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to our youth leaders, partners, volunteers, staff, donors, stakeholders, and friends across the globe.

The year 2025 tested our collective resolve, yet it also reaffirmed the power of youth-led action, inclusive dialogue, and strategic collaboration. Together, we advanced peacebuilding initiatives, strengthened youth empowerment frameworks, and expanded our footprint in communities where hope, opportunity, and resilience are most needed. For this, I express my profound appreciation to everyone who stood with IYDEF-PEF in purpose and in action.

As we step into 2026, we do so with renewed clarity and ambition. This year presents an opportunity to scale impact, deepen institutional partnerships, and translate policy into practice. Our focus remains clear: empowering young people as agents of peace, strengthening community-based solutions, promoting social justice, and driving sustainable development through innovation and accountability.

In 2026, IYDEF-PEF will prioritize:

- Strategic youth leadership development and capacity building

- Evidence-based peacebuilding and conflict prevention programs

- Inclusive empowerment for marginalized and vulnerable youth

- Stronger governance, transparency, and institutional excellence

- Expanded regional and global partnerships for sustainable impact

The road ahead demands discipline, adaptability, and collective ownership. No single institution can address today’s complex challenges alone. Our strength lies in collaboration, shared vision, and unwavering commitment to the values of peace, dignity, and empowerment.

On behalf of the global leadership of IYDEF-PEF, representatives across nations, I reaffirm our commitment to ethical leadership, results-driven programming, and youth-centered development. We remain steadfast in our mission to amplify youth voices and translate potential into measurable outcomes.

May 2026 be a year of progress, unity, and lasting impact for our communities and the global youth constituency we serve.

Happy New Year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | JOINT PRESS RELEASE
On Human Rights and Due Process Concerns in the Case of Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara

Kano State, Nigeria 🇳🇬 | Date: 21st December, 2025

The Awareness for Human Rights and Charity Foundation (AHRCF), Nigeria, in collaboration with the International Youth Development Forum for Peacebuilding and Empowerment Foundation (IYDEF-PEF) – Global Forum, today convened a Joint Press Conference to express serious concerns regarding alleged human rights violations and due-process deficiencies arising from the continuing detention and conviction of Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara.

The joint engagement was organized as part of a broader civil society commitment to the promotion of justice, constitutional order, peacebuilding, and the protection of fundamental human rights through lawful, non-violent, and institutional channels.

BACKGROUND AND CONCERNS:

At the press conference, both organizations highlighted that Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara is a widely known Islamic scholar with a long history of public preaching and religious instruction. Concerns were raised that elements of the proceedings leading to his conviction may not have fully met the standards of fair hearing, evidentiary integrity, and contextual evaluation of religious expression, as guaranteed under national and international legal frameworks.

THE ORGANIZATIONS EXPRESSED PARTICULAR CONCERN OVER:

- Allegations that certain digital materials used against the Sheikh were selectively edited and taken out of proper context;

- The potential impact of such materials on the objectivity and fairness of judicial assessment;

- The broader implications for freedom of religion and expression in a plural and democratic society;

- The need to ensure that due process safeguards are strictly observed in cases carrying irreversible consequences.

CALL FOR DUE PROCESS AND INDEPENDENT REVIEW:

AHRCF and IYDEF-PEF emphasized that their position does not seek to undermine the rule of law or judicial institutions. Rather, they call for strengthening public confidence in justice systems by ensuring that all proceedings fully comply with constitutional guarantees, human rights norms, and internationally recognized fair-trial standards.

ACCORDINGLY, THE ORGANIZATIONS JOINTLY CALL ON:

- Relevant judicial and executive authorities to ensure transparent, impartial, and comprehensive review mechanisms where concerns are credibly raised;

- Human rights institutions, both local and international, to engage constructively within their mandates;

- Stakeholders to prioritize justice, restraint, and social cohesion in addressing sensitive religious and legal matters.

COMMITMENT TO PEACEBUILDING:

Both AHRCF and IYDEF-PEF reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to peacebuilding, non-violence, and lawful advocacy. They stressed that safeguarding human dignity, freedom of belief, and due process is essential not only for individual justice, but also for national stability and peaceful coexistence.

The organizations concluded by reiterating that justice is best served where the rule of law, fairness, and human rights are upheld without prejudice, and where dialogue and institutional remedies are allowed to take their proper course.
