N-YED's 2026 Achievement for Youth in Nigeria.

N-YED Commemorates International Youth Day 2026
Theme: _Different Context, Common Aspiration

New Turn For Youth Enthusiasm and Development (N-YED) joins young people around the globe today, 12 August 2026, to commemorate International Youth Day.

The 2026 theme, _Different Context, Common Aspiration_, reflects the diversity, inspiration, dedication, commitment, aspiration, and perseverance of young people working to achieve clear, meaningful, and impactful goals.

While we may have different pathways, colors, stories, backgrounds, plans, nationalities, and obstacles in our journey, our goals must remain identical.

“As youth, hope, aspiration, dedication, determination, and collective commitment must be at the forefront of our journey despite our differences. N-YED calls on young people to unify their targets, set aside differences, and work together to achieve a common goal.

N-YED’s 2026 Commitments to Youth in Nigeria,
As part of N-YED’s Achievement to youth in Nigeria in 2026, the organization has implemented the following programs:

1. Youth Voices in Good Leadership Platform, A newly launched platform through which 200 young people, both female and male, were engaged through physical and virtual sessions.
2. Youth Out-of-School Creativity and Skills Training: Implemented in partnership with CITAD in Medile community. 25 beneficiaries completed an 8-week intensive training as the first cohort of the program.
3. Various Radio Programs on Youth Development: Always Premier Radio is giving opportunity to address key issues affecting young people.
4. GATEWAY Program Partnership: N-YED has been integrated as a partner in Kano State under the GATEWAY program, implemented by CcHUB in partnership with Mastercard Foundation in Nigeria. The Gig Work Accelerator focuses on talent empowerment and career advancement for youth — a key opportunity for N-YED in fulfilling its commitment to young people in Nigeria.

“There is no doubt that if we build a stronger collective voice, our demands will not be disregarded at any table. We need inclusion and recognition in decision-making and development planning in Nigeria.

Advocacy Visit to PLAN INTERNATIONAL NIGERIA.

The New Turn For Youth Enthusiasm and Development, N-YED, paid an official advocacy visit to the Plan International Nigeria at their office in Kano, Monday, 10th August, 2026.

We were warmly received by the Project Coordinator Mr David Oke and his team.

The meeting provided an avenue to discuss some key area of working together as a partners, Mr David in his wellcome remarks commended N-YED's commitment, passion, impact and it's collective team work toward a desired target vision.

N-YED has presented a strategic memoranda of consideration during the meeting.

We are pleased to announce that we have agreed to work together in partnership on key thematic areas and activities currently being implemented in Kano State.

The meeting was very excited, fruitful, impactful and friendly.

On behalf of the N-YED organization, we are grateful for their warm welcome and hospitality.

Advocacy Visit to Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative

The New Turn For Youth Enthusiasm and Development, N-YED, paid an advocacy visit to the Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative at their office in Kano.

We were warmly received by the Director, Hajia Amina Hanga, and her team. The meeting provided an opportunity to learn more about IWEl’s work, while also sharing N-YED’s activities and engagements.

We are pleased to announce that we have agreed to work together in partnership on key thematic areas and projects currently being implemented in Kano State.

On behalf of the N-YED team, we sincerely appreciate Hajia Amina’s hospitality, kindness, and warm welcome.

New Turn For Youth Enthusiasm and Development (N-YED) hosted a strategic meeting with Idea and Data Global Academy's Kano Lead Officer, Salim Usman Wada, at its office. During the meeting, we discussed key areas of partnership and working together in our ongoing activities and engagements in Kano State and beyond.

We sincerely appreciate Salim Usman Wada for honoring our invitation and for his commitment to the progress of the N-YED organization.

Salim's foresight, intelligence, and perseverance have driven Idea and Data Global Academy to actualize real-life impact in the lives of children, girls, and young people across the Northwest zone.

New Turn For Youth Enthusiasm and Development N-YED conducted a one-day virtual training under its platform, Youth Voices in Good Leadership_. This was the second edition of the platform.

Theme _The Role of Digital Media in Reshaping Youth Ideals, Access, and Participation in Leadership: From Spectators to Stakeholders._

The training featured facilitators with leadership skills, knowledge, and eloquence. They inspired, motivated, and equipped participants with practical skills and knowledge to leverage digital media platforms in reshaping their leadership capacity.

Presentations:
1. Ali Sabo, Communication Officer, CITAD, facilitated on _How Youth Can Use Social Media as a Civic Classroom and Skill-Building Tool to Build Leadership in Nigeria_.
2. Dr. ThankGod Okosun discussed _The Role of Digital Media in Reshaping Youth Ideals, Access, and Participation in Leadership_.
3. Fasasi Sodiq spoke on _How Young People Can Drive Desired Change in the Election Process Through Peaceful and Responsible Use of Social Media Platforms_.

We were honored to host Barr Nura Ahmad of Mufarka Youth Development and Chairman of Kano Network of NGOs (KANET) at our office.

We had fruitful discussions on key areas of partnership and collaboration between New Turn For Youth Enthusiasm and Development (N-YED), Mufarka Youth Development, and KANET around our shared thematic areas.

Barr Nura commended the impact N-YED is making toward inclusive youth development in Kano State through projects that are directly benefiting young people.

Our Executive Director, Amb Abdussalam, appreciated the visit and commended Barr Nura’s leadership, wisdom, and commitment. Under his leadership, KANET has recorded many successes.
