🧠💚 World Mental Health Day 2025

Today, as the world shines a light on mental well-being, we at WIMROF reaffirm our commitment to creating safe spaces where minds and communities can thrive.

Through our Health & Well-being and Advocacy pillars, we have:
✅ Reached and engaged over 1,000 women and young girls through mental health awareness sessions.
✅ Facilitated community-based psychosocial support for vulnerable groups.
✅ Trained local champions to sustain conversations on emotional resilience and well-being.
✅ Integrated mental health education into our education and empowerment programs.

This is more than a day — it’s a movement toward sustainable impact.
We believe mental health is health — and strong minds build strong communities.

🤝 We’re calling on partners, donors, and advocates who believe in a healthier, more inclusive society. Together, we can scale impact, amplify voices, and build lasting change.

🇳🇬 Happy 65th Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬

Independence is more than the raising of a flag — it is the raising of people.
A nation’s true freedom is measured not only in years but in the lives, we uplift, the opportunities we create, and the dignity we restore.

At WIMROF, we celebrate Nigeria’s journey by driving transformation through our four programmatic pillars:

📚 Education – because every child in school is a future leader in the making.
💼 Economic Empowerment – because women and widows who thrive, strengthen families and nations.
🧠 Health & Well-being – because a healthy people are the true wealth of a nation.
📢 Advocacy – because voices raised for justice and equality shape a better tomorrow.

This Independence Day, we reaffirm our commitment to building a Nigeria where freedom is not just symbolic, but sustainable.
Where impact is not temporary, but generational.
Where every citizen has the chance to dream, to rise, and to thrive.

✨ Together, we are shaping the Nigeria we all deserve.

Happy Independence Day from all of us at WIMROF!

🚨 Nigeria cannot achieve SDG4 with 10.2 million children out of school.

📊 New figures reveal:

10.2 million children are out of school in Nigeria.

989,000 of them are in Kano—representing 7.6% of the national figure.

The FG has given schools in Kano a 30-day ultimatum to enroll all children before the new session.

But enrollment alone is not enough.
Barriers such as poverty, insecurity, and weak infrastructure continue to hold millions back.

At WIMROF, we are aligning with national and global commitments to:
✔ Mobilize communities
✔ Raise urgent awareness
✔ Partner for long-term solutions

🌍 Education is not charity—it’s justice.

🌸 Kumbotso, You Touched Our Hearts 🌸

When WIMROF visited Kumbotso LGA in Kano, we knew we were on a mission to restore dignity through menstrual hygiene education and sanitary pad distribution.
But what happened there? It moved us deeply.

With over 75 amazing women in attendance, we talked about something often left in silence—periods. For many, this was their first time seeing a sanitary pad. One woman even thought it was bread. That moment made us smile—but it also reminded us just how important this work is.

We didn’t just give out pads—we shared knowledge. We spoke about how to use them, how to stay clean and healthy during menstruation, and why periods should never come with shame.

What humbled us most?
They asked if WIMROF could make Kumbotso a satellite community—a place where they could continue learning and growing. They also wished for a safe space to ask questions about menstrual health without fear or judgment.

Their message to us:
"Please don’t make this a one-time visit."

And we won’t. 💪
This is just the beginning of something beautiful.

✨ One pad. One conversation. One community at a time.
Together, we’re restoring dignity. 💜

Strong hands. Steady hearts. Silent courage.
This Father’s Day, we celebrate the men whose strength lies not just in what they build — but in what they carry.

Fathers are mentors, providers, protectors — and most of all, human.
They guide with wisdom, sacrifice with love, and lead with resilience — even when the weight is unseen.

At WIMROF, we honor fathers for more than their roles in the home.
We recognize their emotional strength, their mental endurance, and their quiet contributions to the sustainable development of families, communities, and society at large.

To every father who shows up — despite the stress, despite the silence —
We see your resilience.
We honor your strength.
We support your healing.

Happy Father’s Day.
Your strength shapes generations. Your wellbeing sustains society. 💙

🇳🇬 Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬
Today, we celebrate more than a political system—we celebrate the everyday heroes making democracy meaningful through sustainable development, especially in our rural communities.

At WIMROF, we see the power of democracy in action when:
✅ A widow receives the tools to start her own business
✅ Children stay in school because their dignity is protected
✅ A farmer gains access to resources and grows beyond survival

🌾 Did you know?

Over 70% of Nigerians live in rural areas, and they contribute significantly to our national food supply and local economies. (World Bank, 2022)

Women make up 60–80% of Nigeria’s agricultural labour force, especially in food production and processing. (FAO Nigeria Gender Assessment, 2019)

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) account for over 90% of all businesses in Nigeria, with many located in rural and peri-urban areas. (SMEDAN & NBS MSME Survey, 2021)

These are the quiet builders of our democracy—grassroots changemakers ensuring no one is left behind.

At WIMROF, we believe democracy thrives when development is inclusive.

💚 From all of us at Widows Mite Reach Out Foundation, Happy Democracy Day!
