AFRI-CIRD Empowers Entrepreneurs in Digital Economy!
We are thrilled to share highlights from our recent impactful project: "Training of Entrepreneurs on Sustainability in the Current Economic Climate" held at the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, from February 2nd-4th, 2026!
This initiative, proudly funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Nigeria, was a proactive response to Nigeria's booming ICT sector, which now contributes nearly 20% to the national GDP. Our goal was clear: empower budding entrepreneurs with in-demand technical skills that includes computer, mobile phone repairs, catering, footwear production, etc fostering indigenous content development and economic resilience.
What We Achieved!
1. Advanced Technical Skills: Participants gained cutting-edge troubleshooting skills for modern hardware.
2. Sustainable Business Management: Beyond repairs, we equipped them with entrepreneurship training to manage repair centers as thriving businesses.
3. Economic Resilience: The program diversified income streams for students and community members, aligning with Nigeria’s National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy.
Our Methodology!
AFRI-CIRD employed a rigorous hands-on approach combined with business mentorship at the FUD Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC). This included intensive technical workshops, mixed-methods assessments to measure skill acquisition, and context-aware training tailored to Jigawa State's local economic realities. We also integrated crucial sustainability training, covering digital marketing and customer relationship management.
This triangulation of technical expertise, hardware support, and business coaching ensures our participants are well-prepared to transition from trainees to self-sustaining service providers in the digital economy!
A huge thank you to TETFund and Federal University Dutse for their partnership in making this vital training a success!
