*National Dissemination Workshop for Ethical Health Financing (EHF) WAQF tool kits*
The *UK* Support to Health transformation in Nigeria through the *Lafiya Program* has pioneered the
Ethical health financing initiative guided by Zakat and *WAQF* as an innovative health financing mechanism since late 2021. Under
its output 2 “Strengthened health financing, including use of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF)
and innovative financing approaches’.
Following a carefully planned implementation of the initiative in its 5 focus States over the last 3 years,
the initiative has established 138 community-based EHF institutions in 138, Local Government Areas
(LGAs) build capacity of community stakeholders in institution building and resource mobilization and developed knowledge materials (EHF *WAQF* toolkit and advocacy kit) to help the stakeholders and partners
adopt and scale-up the initiative.
After the review and finalization of the knowledge materials for Ethical Health Financing *WAQF* in Nigeria,
*Palladium-Lafiya programme* organized a one-day national lessons learnt and dissemination workshop.
During this workshop, the Lafiya programme highlighted the achievements made in implementing EHF *WAQF*
in its focus states, challenges encountered, and dissemination of EHF *WAQF* knowledge materials.
