(Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.)
Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has expressed profound shock and deep sorrow over the tragic killing of a woman and her six children in Kano State. He described the incident as a barbaric and heartbreaking act that has plunged not only the affected families, but the entire people of Kano State and the nation at large, into deep mourning.
In a statement issued through his Special Assistant, Comrade Murtala Lawan Yadakwari, Dr. Jonathan extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the government and people of Kano State, and Nigerians as a whole over this painful tragedy that claimed seven innocent lives.
He strongly condemned the killings, stressing that violence against innocent citizens—particularly women and children—is unacceptable and must never be tolerated in any society that values human life and human dignity.
Dr. Jonathan called on the relevant security agencies and authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous and dastardly act are swiftly identified and brought to justice. He emphasized that accountability is essential for justice, deterrence, and the restoration of public confidence.
He also expressed his sympathy over the loss of a prominent businessman, Dr. Alhaji Bature Abdul’Azizi, praying that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him eternal rest.
Dr. Jonathan prayed that Almighty Allah grants the bereaved families the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear these irreparable losses, and that the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.
