Ali and the Angel 1. Kun tuna wannan!
I. A long time ago there was a man whose name was Ali. He was clever, but he had very little money. And, although he wanted to get rich quickly, he did not want to work hard.
2. So one morning he went out of the city to a place where there were no houses. There he began to build a small hut of wood and stone. His friends came and watched him, and one of them said, You've got a house in the city; why are you building another one here?
3. Ali said, You'll see. Now please go away and let me get on with my work.' So they went away, shaking their heads ; they thought he was mad.
4. When the hut was finished, Ali went back to his friends in the city.
Do you still want to know why I was building the hut ?' he asked. They said they did.
5. Well, you see, last week I had a dream. In the dream an Angel spoke to me. He said, “For one day, and for only one day, I shall come to this city and you must build a hut for me, I shall sit in that hut so
that all good men can see me and talk to me. But if a bad bad man comes, he won't see me, and I shan't talk to him.
6. Ali's friends looked at one another. And Ali said, Now you want to come and see the Angel ?
They said they did, so Ali took them back to the hut he had built.
As they went, each man was thinking, "Am I a good man ? Am I good
enough to see the Angel ? Or shan't I see him because I'm a bad man?'
