Dr. Hauwa Abdullahi is a trailblazing Professor of Gynecology at Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. Born in Durumin Iya, Kano city, she began her academic journey at Shahuci & Gidan Galadima Girls Day School, followed by Government Girls Secondary School Jogana. She pursued higher education at Bayero University Kano and earned her university certificate from the University of Jos.

Dr. Hauwa's medical career took off with her Housemanship and National Youth Service Corps at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. She further honed her skills with Residency training at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano. She's not only a renowned Professor but also a philanthropist, having founded Getwell Hospital Kano, providing vital medical services to her community.

Her journey to success wasn't without challenges, facing obstacles like gender bias and limited resources, but she persevered, driven by her passion for medicine. As a Professor of Gynecology, she's helped countless women and families, making a real difference in her community ¹.

FG DECLARES FRIDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR EID-UL-MAWLID

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid - the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani on behalf of the Minister, congratulates Muslims in Nigeria and beyond, urging reflection on the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

The statement also calls on Nigerians of all faiths to use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting government’s drive for unity and development.

The Minister of Interior wishes Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
