Why We Are Padding the Path to School
In the quiet villages and bustling towns of Southern Kaduna, a silent crisis is unfolding inside our classrooms.
Every month, thousands of bright, ambitious young girls go missing. They aren’t lost; they are hiding. They are hiding because they have reached a milestone that should be a mark of womanhood, but has instead become a source of shame and a barrier to their education.
The Choice No Child Should Make
Imagine being a 13-year-old student with a passion for mathematics or a dream of becoming a nurse. Then, your period arrives. In a household struggling to put food on the table, a pack of sanitary pads is a luxury that cannot be afforded.
Without pads, these girls resort to using old rags, dried leaves, or pieces of newspaper. They live in constant fear of staining their uniforms, of the whispers of classmates, and the blow to their dignity. To avoid the embarrassment, they simply stay home. Five days every month. Two months of school missed every year. This is how dreams begin to fade. This is how the cycle of poverty continues.
Our Mission: The Girl Child Pad Project
We believe that menstruation should never be a reason for a girl to stop learning. The Southern Kaduna People Foundation is on a mission to ensure that every schoolgirl in our region has access to safe, hygienic, and dignified menstrual products.
When we provide a pack of pads, we are doing more than just giving a gift; we are:
• Keeping girls in school so they can graduate alongside their peers.
• Protecting their health by preventing infections caused by unhygienic alternatives.
• Restoring their confidence so they can stand tall and raise their hands in class without fear.
ransparency: How Your Donation Changes Lives
We believe that every Naira entrusted to us is a seed planted for the future of Southern Kaduna. To ensure maximum impact, we have a clear, three-pillar plan for every donation received.
Here is exactly how your contribution will be spent:
1. Bulk Procurement of Quality Pads
The largest portion of your donation goes directly to purchasing high-quality, long-lasting sanitary pads. By buying in bulk, we stretch every Naira to cover more girls.
• Direct Impact: Your 1k or 2k ensures that multiple girls receive enough supplies to stay in school for a full cycle without the fear of running out.
2. School Outreach & Distribution
We don't just buy pads; we take them to where they are needed most. We target rural and underserved secondary schools across Southern Kaduna where the poverty gap is widest.
• Logistics: Funds cover the transportation and organization of distribution events, ensuring that the pads reach the hands of the most vulnerable students in our villages.
3. Menstrual Hygiene Education (MHM)
Handing out a pack is only half the battle. We use a portion of the funds to provide educational materials and conduct short workshops during distribution.
• Knowledge is Power: We teach the girls about reproductive health, how to track their cycles, and proper disposal methods. This builds their confidence and breaks the stigma and silence surrounding menstruation.
The Power of Your Choice
• A ₦10,000 donation can provide a full term’s worth of dignity for a small group of students.
• A ₦5,000 donation ensures a girl is fully equipped for months, allowing her to focus entirely on her exams.
• Even ₦1,000 keeps a student in her seat for an entire week of school.
Every kobo is tracked, and every pack is hand-delivered. When you donate to the Girl Child Pad Project, you aren't just giving a product—you are fueling an education.
