Amplify Youth Initiative joined the Community Dialogue Committee (CDC) Interactive Sensitization on Misinformation, Disinformation, and Hate Speech (MDH) held in Tsaunin Kura Community, Kaduna State.
Convened by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) West Africa under the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRING) Project, the session brought together a diverse group of stakeholders including community members, civil society actors, security personnel, traditional and religious leaders, as well as persons with disabilities.
The engagement went beyond traditional sensitization, it created a participatory space for dialogue, reflection, and co-creation of solutions. Participants explored the real impacts of misinformation within their communities, particularly around health-related narratives, and were equipped with practical tools for verifying information and promoting responsible communication.
At Amplify Youth Initiative, we believe that addressing misinformation is critical to strengthening peace, protecting civic space, and advancing inclusive governance. Initiatives like this reinforce the power of community-led approaches and multi-stakeholder collaboration in driving sustainable change.
We look forward to continuing to support efforts that empower communities as active agents in countering harmful narratives and promoting social cohesion.
