GIWAC was founded as a non-governmental, non-profit oriented organization on 1/1/03 in Kaduna, Nigeria, with the purpose of reaching out to vulnerable women and children. The primary objective has been to relieve the sufferings of these under served segments of our society by undertaking advocacy activities to promote specific causes, influence policies and practices to improve the quality of their lives. GIWAC obtained a Corporate Affairs Status in July 2007 with Registration No. CAC/IT/25274, the registration and new legal status created an enabling environment for GIWAC to and expand its objectives by combining advocacy activities with operational activities and began the design and implementation of community-development projects starting with skills acquisition and trainings on income generating activities for poor and marginalized widows.
