FCT Police Rescue Woman Allegedly Chained by Brother for Over One Year

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a 36-year-old woman, Ms. Grace Aniekuoku, who was allegedly held in chains and confined by her elder brother, Mr. Chinedu Aniekuoko, for more than one year and four months in Abuja.

According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, officers from the Katampe Division responded to a distress call and forcefully gained access to the premises after the suspect resisted arrest. The victim was found in chains, severely malnourished, and living in deplorable conditions.

The suspect was arrested, while the victim was taken to a hospital where she is currently receiving medical care. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s son had allegedly been taken away to an unknown location about two years ago, with her confinement intended to prevent her from questioning his whereabouts.

The Police have commenced efforts to locate and rescue the missing child. The suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

An experience with this man impacted my life tremendously when he was the Vicar of the Protestant Church, Jaji Military Cantonment. Rev Jibor, as I used to call him, was a true man of God. His impact in the Protestant Church Jaji Military Cantonment has remained unmatched as far as I am concerned. This was his common quote from the Bible: 1 Corinthians 1:23 (KJV): "But we preach Christ crucified, ...". God bless your soul Rev Jibor.

Lt col Muhammad Abu-Ali was one of the few officers who led from the front when Boko Haram terrorized parts of Nigeria’s North-East. While many only heard the sounds of war on the news, Abu Ali was deep inside the battlefield, leading troops through some of the deadliest operations in Borno State.

He commanded the famous 272 Task Force Battalion and played major roles in reclaiming territories like Baga and Gamboru-Ngala from insurgents. His courage earned him rapid promotion, national recognition, and the respect of both senior officers and ordinary soldiers.

But on 4 November 2016, the battlefield claimed him in Mallam Fatori during a fierce Boko Haram attack. He died the way many say a true soldier should, fighting beside his men, not hiding behind them.

Years later, many Nigerians still remember entertainers faster than they remember men like Abu Ali. Yet without officers like him, some parts of Nigeria may never have seen peace again.

Heroes don’t always wear crowns.
Sometimes, they wear dusty camouflage and never make it home.

Remember Umar Musa Tello of the 195 BN Damboa then.

He served as the Operations Officer of 195 Battalion under the leadership of the late Abubakar Kanze Shonva before the unit was dislodged. They fought with courage and determination, doing everything possible to defend Damboa before the situation turned against them.

Today, Umar Musa Tello has risen to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigerian Army. Congratulations to him on this well-deserved promotion.

May the soul of the late Lt. Col. Abubakar Kanze Shonva and every officer and soldier who paid the supreme price rest in perfect peace.

Meet Sqn. Ldr A. Dairo — the Nigerian fighter pilot whose Alpha Jet was shot down by bandits in Zamfara on 17th July, 2021, at about 12:45pm. Under intense gunfire, he fought through thick bushes, escaped death, and survived against all odds. Yet, many Nigerians have never even heard his story.

Sqn. Ldr A. Dairo risked his life for this country, but somehow entertainers and politicians still get more recognition than the men defending Nigeria with their blood.

Heroes shouldn’t only be remembered when they die. Let’s celebrate them while they’re still alive. 🇳🇬
