AGWN SKILL ACADEMY COMMENCES HER SKILL AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING

We are excited to inform the AGWN Council that the AGWN Skill Project for the year 2026 commenced on Thursday- the 16th of April 2026 with the Fashion Department having their very first training, and on the 17th - the Catering Department commenced theirs.

We understand that the Nigerian system has failed, because it was originally designed to satisfy a particular set of people who are enslaved to depend on a stipend called a salary at the end of the month, but today, there is demand for a shift in Mindset, and only people with the right skills and mindset will be able to defy the system and set up new ones that will leave the Government defenseless. We are committed to teach and impart the young ones with what they need to become and stay relevant in such a competitive society, so they can proudly build empires for posterity tomorrow, thereby drastically reducing the increase in Nigerians crime and unemployment rate.

WHY TONY ELUMELU STANDS OUT FROM MANY BILLIONAIRES???

It's not just because of his business success, but because of his commitment to empowering others.

Through Heirs Holdings and leadership at United Bank for Africa, he has built a strong corporate presence across Africa.

But beyond profit, his focus has always been on creating opportunities that extend beyond his own businesses.

What truly makes him different is his philosophy of Africapitalism-the belief that businesses should drive both economic growth and social development.

Through the Tony Elumelu Foundation, he has supported thousands of young entrepreneurs, helping to build the next generation of African business leaders.

His legacy is not just wealth, but impact, empowerment, and long-term transformation.

Lessons I have learnt From Mr Tony Elumelu
=== đź’Ľ

For those of you who may not know him; Mr Tony Elumelu is an African Business Icon, a billionaire and an inspiration to many of us. He’s the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Transcorp, and the United Bank for Africa (UBA).

1 — Prioritize your family
Each time I watch videos of how he cuddles his girls and relates with his wife, it tells me one thing — he’s a happy man who loves his family.

2 — Positioning is everything
Not many bankers were able to become bank CEOs like Mr Tony Elumelu. He didn’t just work hard, he positioned himself in banking, energy, and investments.

3 — Entrepreneurship is the key to Africa’s future
Entrepreneurs are the people who will build Africa. The role of the government is just to give us an enabling environment.
Every time I look at Sir Tony and how he passionately talks about entrepreneurship and backs it up by empowering young entrepreneurs, I’m encouraged to keep the fire within me burning 🔥.
Foreign aids won’t build the Africa of our dream. He has proven that.

4 — Build meaningful relationships and be there for them
Recently, Pastor Jerry Eze announced that he was going to give $300,000 to support 100 Nigerian youths in the agriculture, tech and manufacturing sectors. When the news filtered into Mr Tony Elumelu’s ears, he added $60,000 to that budget.

5 — Mr Tony Elumelu is a calculated risk taker
Buying an underperforming hospitality company is a risk only a calculated risk taker can make.
Interestingly, his innovative approach to business has proven that he can revive any business he’s willing to risk his money in.

When he’s traveling for business meetings, he documents his journey and share it on social media.

Fact-check me… No African billionaire has a better vlog than Mr Tony Elumelu.

We love you, Sir Tony Elumelu ❤️

The most dangerous place you can ever find yourself is not failure, it is comfort without growth. It is waking up and realizing that you are still in the same position, with the same mindset, the same habits, and the same excuses you had last year. That kind of stagnation is silent, but it slowly steals your potential, your time, and your future.

Progress does not come from doing the same things repeatedly and expecting a different outcome. Growth demands change. It requires you to step out of what feels familiar and embrace what feels uncertain. The patterns that kept you where you are cannot take you to where you want to be. If nothing changes, nothing changes.

You must be willing to challenge yourself, your routines, your thinking, your approach. Try new methods. Learn new skills. Take calculated risks. Be open to starting small, failing, learning, and trying again. Every successful person you admire had to break old patterns and create new ones before they saw results.

Do not be afraid of discomfort; it is often a sign that you are stretching into a better version of yourself. The truth is, growth is not always convenient, but it is always necessary. Staying the same might feel safe, but it is actually the biggest risk of all.

This year, refuse to be in the same place you were last year. Make a decision to evolve. Even if your progress feels slow, consistency in a new direction will always lead you somewhere better than standing still.

Change your patterns. Try new methods. Take action. Your future is waiting on the version of you that is willing to grow.

FROM THE ARCHIVES OF OUR ROLE MODEL, SIR TONY ELUMELU

Last night in Paris, I sat with President Emmanuel Macron and fellow leaders of the Africa France Impact Coalition, and our conversation kept returning to the same truth: Africa’s greatest asset is her youth.
But potential without opportunity is a promise broken. To me, joblessness is the betrayal of a generation.
Africa’s young people are talented, entrepreneurial, and ambitious. What they need is access to opportunity, capital, mentorship, and markets.

That is why I called for deeper collaboration, a partnership between Africa’s private sector and global leaders that meets the scale of the opportunity before us.
When President Macron visited Nigeria in 2018 and addressed over 3,200 young African entrepreneurs, the impact reverberated for years.
We must recreate that momentum, and go even further.
On March 22, the Tony Elumelu Foundation will empower an additional 3,200 young African entrepreneurs with 5,000 dollar seed capital, continuing our mission to catalyse Africa’s private sector.

Since launching the Tony Elumelu Foundation in 2010, we have:
• Disbursed over $100 million in seed capital to more than 24,000 entrepreneurs
• Provided business training to 2.5 million young Africans through our digital platform, TEFConnect
• Enabled the creation of over 1.5 million direct and indirect jobs across the continent
• Helped lift over 2 million Africans out of poverty
• Supported entrepreneurs who have generated over $4.2 billion in revenue
• Achieved 46% women participation, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive growth
And yet, we are only scratching the surface.
Strategic partnerships between African institutions and global partners — including France — is key in accelerating entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation across Africa.

We are on our way!
We shall get there!!
It's a matter of time, consistency and sacrifice.

Tony Elumelu has long argued that Africa’s economic transformation will not come from governments alone but from entrepreneurs who are willing to build businesses that create jobs and solve real problems.

Through companies like Heirs Holdings and leadership at United Bank for Africa, Elumelu has demonstrated how African businesses can expand across borders and compete globally.

Beyond his corporate success, Elumelu is investing heavily in the next generation through the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which has funded and mentored thousands of startups across the continent.

His philosophy, often described as Africapitalism, promotes the idea that African entrepreneurs should build profitable businesses that also drive social and economic development.
