VDCare celebrates the recently achieved JUSTICE in Kaduna State, Nigeria!

“In a landmark ruling, three men—John Moses, Yakubu Mohammed, and Mustapha Musa—have been sentenced to death by hanging and surgical castration following their conviction on two charges of r**e in Kaduna.

Between June 2024 and February 2025, the Ministry secured three convictions for r**e in the state, sending a strong message of deterrence.

John Moses was convicted on June 7, 2024, under charges of r**e and in**st, receiving the death sentence and castration. Yakubu Mohammed was convicted on February 6, 2025, for similar charges, also receiving the same penalty. Mustapha Musa, convicted on February 24, 2025, for two counts of r**e, was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The cases were prosecuted by legal experts M.P. Danjuma Esq. and Halimatu S. Bello Esq. The sentences mark a firm stand against r**e and gender violence in the region, with hopes for further reforms in the justice system”.

A very big accolade and CREDIT to the Legal Officers, who passionately saw to the realisation of this verdict. And a special appreciation to all the SGBV Actors in Kaduna State, who have been working tirelessly to pursue JUSTICE for the SURVIVORS of Sexual and Gender Based Violence, in Kaduna State, Nigeria, and Africa at large!

Four days ago, the 27th of February, was marked as Black History Month!

This year's was marked in honor of a black girl called Anarcha Westcott. She was a 17 year enslaved girl who underwent roughly 30 operations without Anesthesia for a Vesicova**nal Fistula (VVF), an abnormal connection between va**na and the bladder; urine coming through va**na).

She healed after the surgery, and James Marion Sim (we refuse to refer to him as doctor) was the racist man who performed these surgeries on her, and was denoted as the father of Gynecology.

However, we would like to say Anarcha is the mother of gynecology. Without her strength, grit, and bravery, she wouldn't have survived those procedures.

We couldn't imagine doing surgery on someone without some form of anesthesia. Black history is America's history. The story must be told even when it's not pretty.
