Ibrahim Muhammad (M. Toonz), a brilliant literary talent and a cherished voice in our community. His absence leaves a profound void in the poetic world he so beautifully enriched.

The Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation is disheartened by this great loss. We reflect on his remarkable contributions with gratitude and will deeply miss his creative spirit.

Our hearts go out to his family during this difficult time. We pray for their peace and for the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.

May his soul rest in Jannatul Firdausi.

“Broken: Not a Halal Love Story” revolves around Faiza, a devout Muslim woman, and her exciting yet rocky relationship with Ahmad, a wealthy Muslim man who challenges traditional Islamic values. Their romance becomes a test of Faiza's faith, as she struggles to reconcile her feelings with her commitment to Halal (permissible) practices.

Please join us to discuss the complexities of love and relationships and examine themes of reconciling tradition with personal desires, the complexities of Muslim life, family expectations, mental health, forgiveness, and finding redemption amidst love and heartbreak on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Almara Centre, located at 22B Kanta Road, City Centre, Kaduna.

“Broken into fragments, Heartbeats - counted, limited. Yet, I’d give all the beats I have left to hear my name escape your lips again. Ours is a togetherness that honors the beauty of our solitude.”
― Fatima Bala, Broken: Not a Halal Love Story
