Last Saturday, we stepped into 9 households with food items and a message of hope. ❤️

For some, what we delivered may look small. But to a family wondering where the next meal will come from, it can mean so much.

We may not be able to reach everyone at once, but we believe change begins with one home, one family, one child.

One family at a time. One child at a time.

And we’ll keep showing up. ❤️

Every month, we walk into communities where the next meal is not guaranteed.

We meet families with children who go to bed unsure of where their next meal will come from. We take food to their homes because no child should have to sleep hungry, and no parent should have to carry the pain of not being able to provide a meal for their family.

We also visit elderly men and women who need more than food. They need care, support, dignity, and the assurance that they have not been forgotten.

Tomorrow, we walk those roads again.

We are excited not simply because we will distribute food, but because we have another opportunity to put food on a table, bring relief to a mother, put a smile on a child’s face, and remind someone that they are not alone.

Tomorrow, we go where hunger lives.
Tomorrow, we carry food.
Tomorrow, we carry hope. ❤️

This is why we do what we do.

BIG NEWS!!! 🎉🔥

We don’t know how to keep calm! It’s another edition — our 7th edition! 🎉

Every year, we bring the issues confronting girls before girls. We listen, inspire, educate, protect, guide, and hold their hands as they navigate the realities of poverty, limited education, early marriage, violence, and other challenges.

These are girls from underserved communities in Kaduna state, Northern Nigeria; and this year, we are coming even bigger!

Expect a 7th edition that is educative, exciting, liberating, inspiring, and comforting.

She runs. She codes. She leads. 🏃🏽‍♀️💻👑

Our 7th edition is coming! ❤️‍🔥

The After School, an environment that changes everything.

In Northern Nigeria, where children are growing up amidst so much happening in their homes, communities, and across the region, we have been intentional about making the After School a safe haven.

It is not just a place to learn letters and numbers. It is a place where smiles are rekindled, hearts feel safe, and children feel loved.

We are intentional about the teachers we bring in; people our little children can trust, run to, and even lay their heads on their shoulders.

The After School had to feel like home, a place filled with love, laughter, warmth, and peace.
Because sometimes, before a child can learn, they need to feel safe enough to smile again.

Until Monday, Little Ones ❤️

There is something beautiful about watching children simply be children; running, playing, laughing, and enjoying one another.

At the After School, these moments remind us that childhood is not only about learning letters and numbers. It is also about laughter, friendship, play, and feeling safe enough to be happy.

So, as Friday comes to an end and we part ways, we leave them with one simple wish:

Keep laughing. Keep playing. Keep being children.

Have a beautiful weekend, our little ones.
We’ll see you on Monday. ❤️

It is easy for a child to become timid, fearful, or lose confidence because of different experiences and circumstances.

But at the After School Learning Program, we intentionally create an enabling environment where every child feels safe to speak, ask questions, share ideas, and most importantly, be listened to.

Because sometimes, all a child needs is a safe space, a patient’ listener, and someone who says, “We want to hear you.”

We are not only helping children learn. We are helping them find their voice.

No matter what a person has been through,
opportunities, love, and support can make all the difference in one’s life.

For young people who didn’t find childhood easy, being given the opportunity to learn, grow, and discover their potential can be a powerful form of healing.

Patience was only three years old when she lost both of her parents. She was taken in and raised by her grandmother, and today, she is 18 years old.

Through our After School Learning Program, Patience had the opportunity to learn computer skills for six months.

For many young people like Patience, opportunities to learn and grow do not come easily. Sometimes, all it takes is for someone to believe in them, create an opportunity, and walk alongside them.

Every opportunity matters. Every child deserves the chance to learn. And sometimes, one opportunity can change the direction of a young person’s life.

Dear Patience, we just got started with you!

When Enoch received the news of being admitted to the After School Learning Program for computer skills acquisition, he just couldn’t believe the opportunity before him.

The 17 year old mom sells roasted corn by the roadside, while his dad works as a security man.

In January, Enoch joined the program. It was his first time sitting in front of a computer. For the first time, he had the opportunity to learn both the theoretical and practical aspects of computer technology.

Six months later, Enoch is done with some courses, and we are so proud of him.

But these first six months are only the beginning. A whole new world of technology and possibilities has opened up for Enoch.

Opportunities for young people shouldn’t be scarce. When they are available and accessible, young people can learn, grow, and succeed.

In many of the communities we serve across Kaduna, finding even one person out of every ten who has ever used a computer is rare.

The sad reality is that, for many children and young people, technology is something they’ve only heard about not something they’ve ever had the opportunity to touch or learn.

That is why our After School Learning Program goes beyond teaching reading, writing, and mathematics. It also opens the door to digital literacy by giving young people like Benjamin the opportunity to learn essential computer skills through a six-month hands-on training program.

Today, we celebrate Benjamin, who has successfully completed his first six months of training. A big congratulations to him.

Listening to Juliet sing, “I’m happy my parents take me to school,” reveals so much about what is in her heart.

Juliet has been on scholarship for the past four years. Before our paths crossed, she was out of school and spent her days on the streets with her older sister, picking plastic bottles to sell so they could afford a small meal of fried potatoes, often just once a day.

Through the support of You Can Foundation, Juliet was enrolled at Keyhope International School, where she has continued her education and is thriving. In addition, she receives monthly food support to help learn with a full stomach.

So, hearing her sing with confidence and pronounce her words clearly fills us with joy and gratitude. Her growth is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a child is given access to education, care, and opportunity.

We are especially thankful to all our donors, and partners, especially Access to Success (A2S) for extending their kindness to the people and community we serve.

We are also full of gratitude for the After-School Program, which provides a safe and supportive environment where Juliet and many other children can learn, play, build their confidence, and feel secure. Her story is a beautiful testament to the life-changing impact of investing in a child’s future. ❤️
