KABBA/BUNU NYCN LAUNCHES SECURITY LIGHTS AT KABBA/BUNU YOUTH SUMMIT
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kabba/Bunu LGA Chapter, recorded a remarkable success with the hosting of the Kabba/Bunu Youth Summit 2026, which took place on Saturday, 25th April, 2026 at St. Barnabas Secondary School Hall, Kabba, Kogi State.
The summit, themed “Security as Everyone’s Business, Education as a Tool for Self-Reliance, and Political Participation as Youth Power: Shaping Kabba/Bunu Youths for the Present and the Future,” brought together youths, stakeholders, and thought leaders from across different sectors.
One of the major highlights of the event was the launching of security torch lights, an initiative of NYCN Kabba/Bunu aimed at supporting local security efforts. These lights are to be distributed to security vigilantes across Kabba and Bunu districts to aid night patrol and enhance safety in our communities. This effort is in line with and serves as a complementary support to the ongoing security interventions of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, the Executive Chairman Kabba/Bunu LGA in tackling insecurity within the state and the local government at large.
The summit featured impactful keynote sessions from distinguished speakers. Dr. Klinsman Owolowo delivered a thought-provoking presentation on how youths can leverage available opportunities within their communities to become successful entrepreneurs, emphasizing innovation, resilience, and local resource utilization.
Also speaking at the event was Hon. Eleta, Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Anti-Cyber Crimes and representative of Hon. Arc. Salman Idris, who enlightened participants on practical ways to curb cybercrime and promote responsible digital engagement among youths.
In addition, the Divisional Officer (D.O), Kabba Division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) educated participants on essential security measures and proactive steps individuals and communities can adopt in response to rising insecurity challenges.
The event was further graced by notable dignitaries including Hon. Nayo Jude Babatunde (SSA to the Kabba/Bunu LGA Chairman on Communication, Information and Strategy), Hon. Joseph Segun Ade (Councillor representing Asuta Ward), Hon. Daisi Joel Owemi (APC Chairman, Odolu Ward), and Hon. Amupitan Timothy Olabuja, among others.
In his address, Eseyin Gbenga the Chairman of NYCN Kabba/Bunu LGA Chapter appreciated all guests, partners, and participants for their support and turnout. He passionately reiterated the purpose of the summit and the rationale behind the theme, stressing the need for collective responsibility in security, the power of education for self-reliance, and the importance of youth participation in politics.
The summit recorded massive participation, with attendees drawn from various schools, youth associations, political groups, and professional bodies. Participants also benefited from insightful sessions on the uses and effects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in today’s world, equipping them with relevant knowledge for the future.
At the end of the event, writing materials and certificates of participation were presented to all attendees as a mark of their involvement and commitment to personal and community development.
Indeed, the Kabba/Bunu Youth Summit 2026 was not just an event, but a movement and a bold step towards building a more secure, informed, and empowered youth population.
Together, we are shaping the future.
