On behalf of The Special Girl Project team, we wish to express our sincere appreciation sir for your invaluable support and time during our first online Google Meet programme, tagged Period Without Embarrassment.

Thank you sir for availing yourself to share your knowledge, and for believing in our vision and mission to create safe, shame-free conversations around menstruation for the girl child. Your presence, insight, and commitment greatly enriched the session and gave our participants the confidence to engage openly.

Your willingness to lend your voice to this cause made a real difference. You helped us set the tone for what this movement stands for; dignity, education, and empowerment without embarrassment.

We are deeply grateful for your partnership sir and we look forward to working with you again as we continue this important work.

EVERYONE HAS A ROLE: UNDERSTANDING MENSTRUATION TOGETHER

Menstruation, also called a period, is a normal and healthy part of life for girls and women. It usually starts between ages 9 and 15. It happens because the body is preparing for adulthood. It is not a sickness, it is not dirty, and it is not a secret we should be ashamed of.

Why should boys and men learn about periods?

Because periods affect our sisters, mothers, friends, classmates, and future wives. When everyone understands menstruation, we can stop jokes, shame, and wrong ideas. We can make school, home, and work better for all.

How can boys and men help?

1. Learn the facts: A period means a girl may have stomach cramps, feel tired, or need to change her pad or cloth every few hours. Knowing this helps you understand, not tease.
2. Show respect: Do not laugh at stains or period products. Do not call girls names. If a classmate needs help, get a female teacher or friend to assist her.
3. Support at home: Fathers and brothers can help by buying pads, giving space to rest, or helping with chores if she has cramps. This is care, not weakness.
4. Speak up: If you see someone bullying a girl about her period, say “Stop, that is not kind.” Your voice can end shame.
5. Keep it clean: Everyone should keep toilets and bathrooms neat. Boys can make sure girls have privacy and water to wash.

What periods are NOT:

They are not a curse. They are not a reason for a girl to miss school. They are not something only women should talk about.

When boys and men get involved, girls feel safe and confident. Families become stronger. Schools have less absence. Communities grow healthier.

Understanding periods is not just a “girl thing.” It is a human thing. The more we all know, the more we can care for each other.

As we marked Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, our hearts were reminded once again why this work matters so much.

To every facilitator, volunteer, donor, supporter, and everyone who contributed in one way or another, thank you for helping make this outreach a success.

Because of your effort, these girls came in as students and left as believers in themselves.
The conversations, the confidence, the smiles, the openness in that room… beautiful to witness.

Thank you for helping us create an impact that truly matters.
