PETITION AGAINST ATTEMPTS TO POLITICISE THE NYCN JEGA LOCAL CHAPTER ELECTION
We, concerned youth and stakeholders of Jega Local Government, wish to express our deep concern over recent attempts by some influential individuals to politicise the peaceful and democratic process of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Jega Local Chapter election.
The election was conducted peacefully, and eligible delegates exercised their constitutional right to vote freely without intimidation or violence. The outcome reflected the collective decision of the youth, and this democratic choice deserves respect.
The NYCN is a non-partisan organisation established to promote youth development, unity, leadership, and active civic participation. It is not an extension of any political party, nor should it be used as a platform for advancing personal or partisan political interests.
Attempts to discredit the electoral process or influence its outcome through political pressure undermine the independence of the Council, weaken democratic values, and create unnecessary division among the youth of Jega.
We therefore call on all stakeholders, community leaders, and political actors to respect the outcome of the election and refrain from actions or statements capable of causing disunity or eroding confidence in the democratic process.
We also urge the relevant NYCN authorities to uphold the integrity of the election, protect the independence of the Council, and ensure that justice, fairness, and due process prevail.
The youth of Jega have spoken peacefully through the ballot. Their voice should be respected, protected, and allowed to stand.
Signed:
Concerned Youths and Stakeholders of Jega Local Government Area.
