🌍 Advancing Grassroots Development Across Taraba State
As part of our commitment to promoting inclusive and community-driven development, Save Life Community Initiative (SLICOM-I) has actively participated in a series of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) engagements across several communities in Gassol, Ardo Kola, Wukari, Donga, and Ibi Local Government Areas in collaboration with the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).
Through these engagements, communities were sensitized on opportunities available under the NG-CARES and the Community-Driven Development (CDD) model supported by the World Bank.
The exercise created a platform for traditional leaders, women groups, youth, and community stakeholders to openly identify their most pressing needs and prioritize development projects that will improve their livelihoods.
Across the communities visited, the key priorities identified include:
âś… Construction and renovation of healthcare centres and health posts
âś… Provision of essential drugs and medical incinerators
âś… Drilling and rehabilitation of hand-pump and solar-powered boreholes
âś… Construction and renovation of classroom blocks with VIP toilets
âś… Provision of desks and learning facilities for schools
âś… Construction of culverts to improve rural access
âś… Installation of solar lights to improve security and productivity
âś… Construction of market stores to support local economic activities
These interventions will significantly improve access to healthcare, clean water, education, and rural infrastructure, while also contributing to economic recovery and resilience in vulnerable communities.
At Save Life Community Initiative (SLICOM-I), we strongly believe that sustainable development begins with community participation. When communities are involved in identifying their own needs and planning solutions, the impact becomes more sustainable and transformative.
We remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen community resilience, social development, and inclusive growth across Taraba State.
Together, we continue to work towards building healthier, empowered, and more sustainable communities.
