IPERU YOUTH RECORD HISTORIC MILESTONE WITH FOUNDATION LAYING OF PERMANENT SECRETARIAT
The Iperu Youth Development Association IpYDA have recorded a significant milestone in their developmental journey with the successful laying of the foundation for a permanent youth secretariat. The landmark event, held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Origbemidele area of Iperu Remo, attracted prominent traditional rulers, community leaders,stakeholders youth leaders from different communities in Remo land .
The ceremony witnessed the presence of the Iperu Regency Council members, High Chief Rotimi Odubona, Lisa of Iperu, High Chief, Barr. Ifasola Saheed Opeodu, Oluwo of Iperu, High Chief Adekunle Adekoya, Ogbeni Odi of Iperu,alongside respected traditional rulers,His Royal Highness, Oba Babatunde Kayode Ezekiel, Onimeji of Imeji, HRH, Oba Isiaka Adekanmi Ogunnaike, Alagbehinsa of Agbehinsa,HRH Oba Abraham Adedoyin Ogunfowora,Alaregun of Iregun and the Chairman of the Iperu Akesan Development Association (IDA), Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo Avalon, Alhaja Mrs Sariat Ogunlaja, Dr. Jamiu Talubi Jila, Remo Youth Association Chairman elect, Comrade Muyiwa Osularu and other respected individuals. There attendance underscored the collective commitment of the community to youth advancement and infrastructural development.
In his remarks, the Onimeji of Imeji, Oba Babatunde Kayode Ezekiel, commended the late Alaperu of Iperu and the Regency Council for their unwavering support towards youth development, particularly in facilitating the realization of the secretariat project. He offered prayers for continued unity, progress, and prosperity among the youth of Iperu.
Also speaking, Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo Avalon expressed deep appreciation to the Regency Council for its consistent backing of youth initiatives within the community. He further acknowledged the contributions of the IDA executive members, highlighting the association’s generous donation of ₦20 million towards the project. He charged the youth leadership to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent management of resources entrusted to them.
In a show of solidarity, several community leaders pledged material support for the project. The Lisa of Iperu committed to donating 200 blocks, while the Oluwo of Iperu pledged 500 six-inch blocks. Similarly, the Onimeji of Imeji announced his donation of 100 blocks to support the construction effort.
Delivering his address, the Youth President, Alhaji Ganiyu Ahmed, expressed profound gratitude to the late Alaperu of Iperu for championing the vision of a youth secretariat and for generously donating the land upon which the project now stands. He also appreciated the entire Iperu community and youth constituency for their steadfast support, noting that the initiative marks a new phase of transformation and structured development for young people in the town.
He reiterated the commitment of the youth body to sustaining progress and called on well meaning individuals, indigenes, and stakeholders to continue supporting the project to ensure its timely completion.
The foundation laying ceremony marks a pivotal step toward institutionalizing youth engagement, coordination, and development in Iperu Remo, setting a solid groundwork for future generations.
