EYO IPERU CARNIVAL 2026: OFFICIAL PROCESSION ORDER AND GUIDELINES RELEASED

The Eyo Iperu Carnival Committee, under the purposeful leadership of Omooba Gbenga Owokalade Esq,hereby formally announces the approved due process and structured movement plan for the Eyo procession scheduled to hold on Saturday,25th April 2026.

As part of deliberate efforts to ensure orderliness,cultural integrity,and seamless coordination throughout the procession,the following sequence and designated route points have been established for all participating Igas:

1. Iga Pakerike — Texaco

2. Iga Jalugba — Attenda

3. Iga Odoru — Elejina House

4. Iga Fibigbuwa — Elejina House

5. Iga Imeji — Itaagan

6. Moibi Akinsanya — Itaagan

7. Balogun Adebutu — Itaagan

8. Iga Mogunshe Amororo — Sewolu

9. Iga Agbonmagbe — Iregun

10. Iga Agbehinsha — Iregun

11. Iga Alaregun — Iregun

The Committee emphasizes that this arrangement is critical to maintaining discipline,preserving tradition,and achieving a well-coordinated cultural display befitting the heritage of Iperu Remo.

Furthermore,it has been unanimously agreed that all Olori Igas must exchange phone contacts prior to the procession.This measure is aimed at strengthening real time communication,enabling swift coordination,and addressing any logistical challenges that may arise during the movement.

The procession will commence promptly at 7:30 AM from Iga Pakerike,and all participating groups are expected to be fully prepared and assembled ahead of time to avoid delays.

The Eyo Iperu Carnival Committee urges all stakeholders,participants,and the general public to adhere strictly to these guidelines as we collectively deliver a historic and culturally enriching outing.

EYO IPERU CARNIVAL 2026: EYO COMMITTEE ENGAGES IPERU REGENCY COUNCIL, RECEIVES ROYAL BLESSINGS

The Eyo Carnival Committee, led by Omooba Gbenga Owokalade Esq, yesterday paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Iperu Regency Council at the Alaperu Palace, where detailed briefings were presented on the forthcoming Eyo Iperu Carnival 2026. The meeting formed part of high level engagements aimed at strengthening traditional backing and ensuring the successful delivery of this year’s cultural spectacle.

In the course of the engagement, the Committee outlined key components, structure, and cultural significance of the upcoming carnival, emphasizing its role in preserving and promoting the authentic heritage of Eyo as rooted in Iperu Remo. The session further highlighted the broader objectives of the festival, particularly its cultural, economic, and tourism value to the community and beyond.

The Iperu Regency Council, in their response, commended the unwavering commitment and strategic efforts of the Committee in projecting Iperu’s rich cultural identity on a grand scale. The Council acknowledged the vision of positioning this year’s edition as a mega cultural event and expressed confidence in the Committee’s capacity to deliver a successful and impactful carnival.

In addition, the revered Council offered fatherly counsel, urging the Committee to remain inclusive and intentional in promoting local talents and indigenous artists as part of the festival’s core programming. This, they noted, will further deepen community participation and cultural ownership.

As part of key announcements, it was confirmed that all Eyo groups (Igas) will converge at the Alaperu Palace by 8:00 AM on Friday for royal blessings. This sacred rite will officially herald the commencement of the Eyo celebrations for the year, with a formal declaration to follow at Oja-Ale Square later in the day.

In a symbolic gesture, the Committee presented the Aga and Opambata to the Regency Council as part of traditional rites, signifying royal approval and the official commencement of their sale to the general public ahead of the carnival.

The meeting was graced by esteemed members of the Regency Council, including the Lisa of Iperu, Oluwo of Iperu, Apena of Iperu,Aro of Iperu, Ogbeni Odi of Iperu Iyalode of Iperu and Olotu Erelu of Iperu.

Members of the Eyo Carnival Committee present at the meeting included the Chairman, Omooba Barr. Taiwo Gbenga Owokalade; the Olori Eyo, Omooba Chris Lekan Oyin-Adeniji; and Chief Baale Ariyo-Osu, Akinlarin AbdulHakeem Sureness, alongside other key stakeholders.

The Committee reiterates its commitment to delivering a culturally enriching and historically grounded Eyo Carnival, while calling on all sons and daughters of Iperu, the Remo community, and the general public to actively participate in this landmark celebration.

IPERU YOUTH RECORD HISTORIC MILESTONE WITH FOUNDATION LAYING OF PERMANENT SECRETARIAT

The Iperu Youth Development Association IpYDA have recorded a significant milestone in their developmental journey with the successful laying of the foundation for a permanent youth secretariat. The landmark event, held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Origbemidele area of Iperu Remo, attracted prominent traditional rulers, community leaders,stakeholders youth leaders from different communities in Remo land .

The ceremony witnessed the presence of the Iperu Regency Council members, High Chief Rotimi Odubona, Lisa of Iperu, High Chief, Barr. Ifasola Saheed Opeodu, Oluwo of Iperu, High Chief Adekunle Adekoya, Ogbeni Odi of Iperu,alongside respected traditional rulers,His Royal Highness, Oba Babatunde Kayode Ezekiel, Onimeji of Imeji, HRH, Oba Isiaka Adekanmi Ogunnaike, Alagbehinsa of Agbehinsa,HRH Oba Abraham Adedoyin Ogunfowora,Alaregun of Iregun and the Chairman of the Iperu Akesan Development Association (IDA), Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo Avalon, Alhaja Mrs Sariat Ogunlaja, Dr. Jamiu Talubi Jila, Remo Youth Association Chairman elect, Comrade Muyiwa Osularu and other respected individuals. There attendance underscored the collective commitment of the community to youth advancement and infrastructural development.

In his remarks, the Onimeji of Imeji, Oba Babatunde Kayode Ezekiel, commended the late Alaperu of Iperu and the Regency Council for their unwavering support towards youth development, particularly in facilitating the realization of the secretariat project. He offered prayers for continued unity, progress, and prosperity among the youth of Iperu.

Also speaking, Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo Avalon expressed deep appreciation to the Regency Council for its consistent backing of youth initiatives within the community. He further acknowledged the contributions of the IDA executive members, highlighting the association’s generous donation of ₦20 million towards the project. He charged the youth leadership to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent management of resources entrusted to them.

In a show of solidarity, several community leaders pledged material support for the project. The Lisa of Iperu committed to donating 200 blocks, while the Oluwo of Iperu pledged 500 six-inch blocks. Similarly, the Onimeji of Imeji announced his donation of 100 blocks to support the construction effort.

Delivering his address, the Youth President, Alhaji Ganiyu Ahmed, expressed profound gratitude to the late Alaperu of Iperu for championing the vision of a youth secretariat and for generously donating the land upon which the project now stands. He also appreciated the entire Iperu community and youth constituency for their steadfast support, noting that the initiative marks a new phase of transformation and structured development for young people in the town.

He reiterated the commitment of the youth body to sustaining progress and called on well meaning individuals, indigenes, and stakeholders to continue supporting the project to ensure its timely completion.

The foundation laying ceremony marks a pivotal step toward institutionalizing youth engagement, coordination, and development in Iperu Remo, setting a solid groundwork for future generations.

As the countdown to the much anticipated Eyo Carnival Iperu 2026 gathers momentum, the Eyo Carnival Committee is pleased to formally notify the general public of the availability of accommodation options within Iperu and its environs.

In line with our commitment to ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for all visitors, stakeholders, and tourists, the Committee has compiled a comprehensive list of hotels and short-let apartments suitable for lodging during and after the carnival period. This initiative is aimed at facilitating early booking and proper planning ahead of the main event day.

Attached to this notice is the list of available hotels within our community. Prospective guests are strongly advised to make reservations in advance to avoid last minute inconveniences, as demand is expected to be significantly high.

IPERU INDIGENES FORUM COMMENDS GATEWAY AIR ON COMMENCEMENT OF IPERU TO ABUJA, IPERU TO KANO FLIGHTS

Lauds ValueJet Airline on Iperu to Lagos Flights

The Iperu Indigenes Forum has commended Gateway Air on the commencement of commercial flight operations from the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, describing the development as a historic milestone for the community and Ogun State at large.

In a statement jointly signed by the Convener, Prince Ladi OLABINJO; Administrators, High Chief Barr. Ifasola Saheed OPEODU (the Oluwo of Iperu), and Otunba Adebayo SALAMI; as well as the Media Officer, Temitope OYEKAN; the Forum hailed the bold vision behind the initiative.

It also expressed deep appreciation to Governor Dapo ABIODUN for his leadership in delivering the airport project, noting that it has positioned Iperu on the global aviation and economic map.

The Forum highlighted that the operationalization of the Gateway International Airport, located within Iperu in the Remo Industrial Corridor, signals a new era of development for Iperu, Ikenne Local Government, Remoland, and Ogun State.

According to the statement, the airport is strategically positioned to drive Job Creation and Entrepreneurship, Increased Investment and Trade, Tourism and Hospitality Growth, Infrastructure and Urban Renewal, Enhanced Regional and International Connectivity.

The Forum further noted that the launch of cargo operations by Allied Air, alongside anticipated international flights by Air Peace, will significantly strengthen the airport’s role in linking Ogun State to global markets.

In addition, the Forum lauded ValueJet Airline for commencing commercial flights between Iperu and Lagos, describing the move as a strong demonstration of commitment to innovation and excellence within Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The Gateway Air through a release from Mr. Kayode AKINMADE, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, CON, announces the New Domestic Flight Operations.
The airline according to AKINMADE will tomorrow, Monday, 13th April, 2026, commence flights on the following routes:

Iperu to Abuja

Iperu to Kano

Additional connecting routes will also include:

Abuja to Port Harcourt

Abuja to Calabar

Abuja to Jos

The flights are scheduled to operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, offering passengers consistent and flexible travel options with economy fares starting from ₦100,000, providing affordable access to air travel.
