A moment of learning, creativity, and possibility. 💻✨

We’re excited to share moments from the final presentation of the Tech Bootcamp for Children of Fallen Heroes, organised by Heroes Dream Alive Foundation in partnership with Beacon Literacy Advancement Network.

Throughout the bootcamp, the children had the opportunity to learn, create, express themselves, and build confidence as they explored technology and new possibilities.

As BLAN, we were honoured to contribute to this experience through our Finding Your Voice sessions, supporting the children with communication, confidence, public speaking, and self-expression.

Seeing them present what they had learned and confidently sharing their ideas was a beautiful reminder that when children are given opportunities, they can surprise us with what they are capable of.

Here’s to creating more spaces where children can learn, grow, find their voice, and dream boldly.

International Literacy Day 2026

At Beacon Literacy Advancement Network, we believe literacy is more than knowing how to read and write. It is the foundation upon which children build confidence, pursue their aspirations and access opportunities.

We've seen children in underserved communities who attend school but still struggle to read basic words. That reality reminds us that access to education is not enough if children are not learning.

This is why we don't just put books in children's hands. We work to build the foundational literacy skills that help them actually read, understand and enjoy those books.

Because every child deserves the chance to READ. LEARN. LEAD.

A Partnership We’re Grateful For 🤝🏾

We’re grateful to Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kwara for this thoughtful letter of appreciation following the successful conclusion of the Raimi Akanbi Public Speaking Academy Speech Contest.

It was a privilege for Beacon Literacy Advancement Network (BLAN) to support the Academy by providing gifts for the winners and participants, and also to contribute as a judge during the competition.

For us, it was more than supporting a speech contest.

It was an opportunity to encourage young people to build confidence, express themselves and develop the communication skills they need to thrive.

We appreciate JCI Kwara for trusting BLAN to be part of this initiative, and we look forward to more opportunities to collaborate on programmes that create meaningful opportunities for young people.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our volunteers, Habibat Baba, who emerged as the Overall Winner of the RAPS Academy Cohort 2 Physical Speech Contest! 🎤🥳

Competing under the theme “Speaking with the Purpose of Impact,” she demonstrated confidence, clarity, strong communication and the ability to connect meaningfully with her audience.

As an organisation committed to creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and use their voices, moments like this mean so much to us.

Her achievement is a beautiful reminder that when young people are given the opportunity to develop their skills and step forward, they can rise to the occasion.
