We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our volunteers, Habibat Baba, who emerged as the Overall Winner of the RAPS Academy Cohort 2 Physical Speech Contest! ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿฅณ

Competing under the theme โ€œSpeaking with the Purpose of Impact,โ€ she demonstrated confidence, clarity, strong communication and the ability to connect meaningfully with her audience.

As an organisation committed to creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and use their voices, moments like this mean so much to us.

Her achievement is a beautiful reminder that when young people are given the opportunity to develop their skills and step forward, they can rise to the occasion.

Today, during our session with the children of Fallen Heroes, we stepped into the world of storytelling. ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ“š

From creating characters and building stories to thinking about beginnings, middles and endings, the children had the chance to imagine, speak, listen and create.

And honestly? The creativity was EVERYTHING. ๐Ÿ˜‚โค๏ธ

One of our JSS3 students opened yesterday's impromptu speaking session with confidence, sharing her thoughts in Yorรนbรก on the good side of social media.

Her message was a great reminder that effective communication is about more than the language we speak.

Itโ€™s about having the confidence to express our ideas clearly and meaningfully.

Overcoming Stage Fright: One Brave Step at a Time!

Today, the SS1 students of Gambari community together with Rahmat Olajumoke Aliyu explored the reality behind stage fright and learnt that feeling nervous before speaking is completely normal.

From learning how to:
โ–ช๏ธŽ Manage nervousness
โ–ช๏ธŽ Prepare before speaking
โ–ช๏ธŽ Turning mistakes into opportunities to improve

The students discovered that confidence grows through practice.

The highlight? Our โ€œSpeak for 60 Secondsโ€ Challenge, where students stepped forward and spoke despite their fears.

A powerful reminder: You donโ€™t have to be fearless to be confident. You just have to be willing to try.

Menstruation should never be a source of shame, and poverty should never determine whether a girl can manage her period with dignity.

At Beacon Literacy Advancement Network, we believe that fighting menstrual poverty requires more than providing sanitary products. It requires education, open conversations, advocacy, access and community support.

Through our work, we are committed to helping create a future where girls can navigate menstruation with dignity, confidence and the support they need.
