Up 9ja!!
As the Nigerian flag waves high today, the Academy for Health Development extends its warmest felicitations to every citizen on the occasion of our nation's Independence Day.
Today, we do not just celebrate the Independence of our great country; we celebrate the resilience, the spirit, and the boundless potential that defines the Nigerian people. We remember the sacrifices of our heroes past, whose labour gave birth to this great nation, and we acknowledge that the true fight for independence continues in the daily pursuit of a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Nigeria.
The journey to true national health independence requires a vision built on knowledge and capacity. For us at the Academy, this is our sacred mandate. We look forward with unwavering optimism, dedicated to training the next generation of resilient healthcare professionals, generating critical research, and translating that evidence into policies that will build a world-class health system. We believe that by investing in our people and pioneering smart health solutions, we can overcome our present challenges and secure a future where quality healthcare is a guaranteed right, not a distant privilege, for every Nigerian.
May the courage of our founding fathers inspire us to work together, across all divides, to secure the complete well-being of the Giant of Africa. God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The energy from our recent FP Impact Program still resonates. It was an inspiring day where individuals passionate about making a difference in the realm of family planning came together to explore the connection between family planning and how it affects Nigeria's socioeconomic progress and growth. New data was presented, and stakeholders put their minds together to come up with lasting and sustainable solutions to enable Nigeria to achieve its FP2030 goal.
Having policymakers and individuals involved with implementation aggregate views from both sides of the divide enabled them to provide unique perspectives on the same issue and ensure that it could be examined from both lenses. The intellectual jousting was carried out with honesty and optimism, uncovering practical solutions and sparking collaborations that will eventually sprout lasting change.
In an unexpected turn of events, some of our (Communicating Evidence for SRHR Policy, Advocacy and Action) graduates honored Professor Adesegun Fatusi with an award for his impactful leadership. It was a moving reminder that great leadership shapes lives and communities.
To every speaker, participant, and partner, we say a heartfelt thank you. Together, we are not just planning for the future; we are building a legacy of health, opportunity, and lasting progress

To all young people of Nigeria,
Today, we celebrate International Youth Day, but more than that, we celebrate you. We celebrate your resilience, your creativity, and your unyielding spirit. We see you hustling in the markets, building businesses from scratch, and using your voices to advocate for a better future.
You are the vibrant pulse of our great nation. You are the engineers, the artists, the entrepreneurs, the change-makers, the poets and the leaders who will shape the Nigeria of tomorrow. We know the challenges are immense, and the path is not always easy. Yet, time and again, you rise. You innovate in the face of adversity and find strength in community. Let this day be a reminder of your power and potential. Your dreams are valid, your voices are essential, and your contributions are priceless. Keep pushing, keep creating, and never stop believing in the incredible future you are building for yourselves and for all of us.
Happy International Youth Day, from all of us at The Academy for Health Development!!

Yinka Adeniran, a C4SPAA Cohort 3 Fellow, is tackling a growing but often overlooked threat in the fight for better sexual and reproductive health rights: misinformation and disinformation. His project explores how fake news and misleading content, especially online is shaping the decisions people make about their bodies and health. In a world where the internet is the first stop for medical information, many are exposed to harmful, inaccurate narratives long before they ever speak to a healthcare provider. This disconnect between research-backed knowledge and whatโ€™s available online has led to confusion, stigma, and poor health choices. Yinkaโ€™s work highlights the urgent need to bridge this gap by promoting credible, accessible SRHR information so people can make informed decisions based on facts, not fear.
