ILAWE-EKITI STUDENTS’ UNION ATTENDS ALAWE’S ANNUAL DINNER, URGES STAKEHOLDERS’ ACTION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Ilawe-Ekiti Students’ Union was duly represented at the Annual Alawe Dinner hosted by His Royal Majesty, the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti. The event brought together respected chiefs, elders, professionals, academics, and notable sons and daughters of the community to reflect on the progress of Ilawe-Ekiti and chart a way forward.

Speaking on behalf of the student populace, Comrade Jude Victor Owolade, the outgoing National President of the Ilawe-Ekiti Students’ Union, appreciated Kabiyesi for his consistent fatherly support towards students and youths, while emphasizing the importance of education and youth empowerment for sustainable community growth.

The Union used the platform to propose the establishment of a functional community library to serve undergraduates and senior secondary school students, provide access to academic resources, preserve the history of Ilawe-Ekiti, and operate sustainably under the Students’ Union with minimal registration fees, Wi-Fi facilities, and steady power supply.

In addition, the Union appealed for greater commitment to youth employment and engagement, calling on stakeholders to support initiatives that will productively engage qualified but unemployed graduates.

The Ilawe-Ekiti Students’ Union reaffirmed its readiness to partner with Kabiyesi and stakeholders in advancing the development of Ilawe-Ekiti.

Together, we build a stronger Ilawe-Ekiti.

THE ILAWE STUDENTS' UNION NATIONAL BODY UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF COMRADE JUDE VICTOR OWOLADE PROUDLY ANNOUCES THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF DAY ONE AND DAY TWO OF THE ILAWE VALUES & AWARENESS TOUR

DAY THREE REPORT

Date: Friday, 31st October 2025
Venue: United High School
Guest Speaker: Comr. Ifeoluwa – Youth Development Advocate

The third day of the Ilawe Values & Awareness Tour (IVAT) took place at Oniwe Comprehensive High School, and it proved to be another inspiring and impactful session. The guest speaker, Comr. Ifeoluwa, a passionate Youth Development Advocate, delivered an exceptional presentation centered on the dangers of drug abuse and its far-reaching effects on young people and society at large.

He explained that drug abuse not only affects the body but also deeply impacts mental health, often leading to depression, anxiety, and loss of focus. He highlighted how continuous misuse of substances results in addiction, which gradually destroys one’s ambitions, academic performance, and relationships.

Beyond drug abuse, Comr. Ifeoluwa also spoke on other prevalent social vices such as cybercrime, exam malpractice, and cultism, emphasizing how these actions, though often presented as shortcuts to success, only bring long-term regret and shame.

Speaking passionately about cybercrime (internet fraud), he gave a practical orientation on how young people can build a better and more sustainable future through legitimate and creative digital skills. He mentioned numerous alternatives including digital marketing, graphic design, web design, email marketing, and other tech-driven careers.

He further enlightened the students on how to use Artificial Intelligence (AI)productively—not just for assignments, but for research, creativity, and personal development. His message encouraged them to see technology as a tool for innovation, not deception.

In addition, he spoke extensively on the power of good choices, reminding the students that “the choices you make today will determine the quality of life you’ll live tomorrow.” He challenged them to think about their future, asking several students where they see themselves in the next five years, an exercise that sparked deep reflection and motivation among participants.

The session ended with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where students asked insightful questions, particularly on how to overcome drug addiction. In response, Comr. Ifeoluwa advised that recovery begins with acknowledging the problem, avoiding triggers, staying away from bad company, and fleeing from every pointer to social vices.

The students showed great enthusiasm throughout the session, with many expressing gratitude for the knowledge gained and a renewed commitment to making better life choices.

Together, we continue to spread the message:
*“Say No to Vices, Yes to Value!”*
