ISIU CELEBRATES HISTORIC EWEYE DAY
A new chapter was written in the history of Isiu Kingdom, Lagos State, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, as the ancient town hosted the grand finale of the 2025 edition of its annual Isiu Eweye Day celebration.
The colourful event, held at the historic Local Government Primary School, Isiu, attracted an impressive gathering of dignitaries from across the Ikorodu Division — including traditional rulers, community leaders, political figures, and representatives of various associations.
Among the distinguished guests were:
HRM Oba Adesegun Ebenezer Oyiri, the Oloshoroki of Oshoroki, Lekki;
HRM Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe;
HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo;

Also in attendance were the Chairmen of Ikorodu North, Igbogbo, and Imota LCDAs, the Chairman of Ikorodu Development Association (IKODASS), and the Director-General of the I-Care Foundation, among others.
Guests adorned in the event’s specially designed green Ankara fabric were treated to a vibrant array of activities, cultural displays, and music performances that added glamour and colour to the day.
In his royal address, HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, JP, the Eweye of Isiu, expressed deep gratitude to God for the success of the celebration. He recalled the challenges that greeted his early reign, particularly the lack of electricity in the community due to a shortage of transformers, and how he was able to facilitate the release of two new transformers to restore power to Isiu.
Mayor Ameen Apanishile, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, who attended with his vice-chairman and other executives, commended the community and reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with the Eweye to drive development and progress in Isiu.
In his goodwill message, Otunba Folagbade Musa Banwo (fMB), Chairman of the Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS) — organizers of the event — thanked God and the people for their support. He urged all sons and daughters of Isiu to unite, emphasizing that the only way to take Isiu to greater heights is through cooperation and collective effort.
The event also featured award presentations to deserving individuals and groups in recognition of their contributions to the community. Honorees included Mr. Aina Oladipupo, Asiwaju Wale Ogunbela, Deaconess Elizabeth Grillo, Alhaji Imam Abubakri Mohammad Raji, Rev. Tijani Matthew, and several others. Associations such as Bobakeye, Obayori, Gbobaniyi, and the Association of Tailors also received merit awards.
The day witnessed participation from notable clubs and associations, including the Isiu Grammar School Old Students Association (IGOSA), the Arewa (Hausa) Community in Ikorodu North led by Alhaji Waziri, the Danbaba Foundation led by Sanni Danbaba, Babaselu, and many others.
The celebration was indeed one to remember — filled with music, laughter, food, and joy. The performances by local artistes kept the crowd entertained throughout the day, making the 2025 Isiu Eweye Day one of the most colourful and historic celebrations in the kingdom’s recent memory.
