Yaaaaaaaaaay
THERE IS DIGNITY IN LABOUR, that's the topic of our devotion today to celebrate the workers day and this is the point I wish you happy workers day.
My gist today long I'm not sure if Facebook would allow me pour out all my mind.
So one day probably over ten years ago after my hectic morning lecture during my Diploma days, I received a call from that man in red to report at the secretariat well it was a drill I was used to so nothing is new here.
I took the shortest step from the Natural History Museum where I had my lecture to Fajuyi hall where the Man O' War secretariat is located just at the entrance I saw this man with another perfectionist called human being with a jar of paint and this gave me a trauma of my first ever Recce exercise in life, during this exercise we are to map out way by finding previously marked out point and placing emphasis on them for the forthcoming Mountaineering exercise in me being careful with my steps not to fall from this Kilimanjaro I decided to let go the lid of the paint instead of my life I got the weirdest command of my life to go back to pick the lid up as everything we left with must be accounted for I took those uncertain steps down from the mountain to pick this lid up and find my way back up alone my dear it was not funny at any moment but I did it .
Now back to my real gist when I met the duo at the Fajuyi entrance with this paint I know have been conscripted into the forthcoming Endurance Recce team, for those of you not familiar with the Recce word it is a short form for Reconisancce which main duty are to map out way for upcoming activities just like the Mountaineering gist I gave you earlier. On knowing this I guess I know what is ahead of me until we face Anglo Moz road instead of flagging a bus down to school gate and proceeding to Moro the location of the expenditure well no wahala maybe the other teams are in Anglo Moz or it is customary to visit Anglo Moz first as it is the convergence point for the event my dear permit me to tell you that I lie to myself our journey to Moro started from that moment through Anglo Moz to the Cow market and into the farms and finally to the express and back into the forest till the ray of hope come after probably 8 hours of missing and finding our ways when I saw a building ahead it was the building inside the Pre Degree campus of the Obafemi Awolowo University Moro so this was how I trek from Ife to Moro without planning or knowing it.
Few years later during my Degree program in Ekiti state I founded the Man O' War club alongside some like minded individual and this club celebrated her 5th year anniversary just this past month it was a period of joy for me as I brought to practical the Recce spirit imbibe in him by this man and I created a path for many individuals in the Mountain Command of the club.
The gist about my gist is that the rewards in labour need you to go through the making, understand each step and put it to action and the reward would definitely smile at you.
You may consider having a tip of our adventures feel free to create a time for yourself to join the Man O' War OAU at this year Endurance Trek/Group survival this weekend, looking forward to seeing you there.
