Children’s Anti Corruption Initiative (CACTI) is a new response to the fight, war and campaigns against corruption through the advocacy of children and through their innocent appeals to the society to save their future from collapse, ruins and invasion. The initiative, unlike many others, is derived from the worries and increasing awareness of children to the ruinous effects of corrupt practices o
n their welfare, living and future. It is also derived from the need to confront the hydra-headed monster of corruption from a new perspective. Children, all over the world, form the most vulnerable segment of the society. Their fulfillment is tied to the choices, attitudes, preferences and idiosyncrasies of the older generation. Besides, all philosophies support the fact that children are born naturally good, harmless and innocent but for the society that corrupts them. In the words of Professor Wole Soyinka, “Children are not born with bad attitude, it is inculcated in them. So we need to begin a massive re-orientation of the minds of our youth’’. It is on the need for massive re-orientation of our children and the need to urgently rescue them from a future that has been lost to the passion of acquiring material things at every possible means, even at the exchange of their souls, that CACTI seeks to lend a new creative response to the fight against corruption. It is our wish that all concerned should join us to propose models of integrity and transparency for our children to emulate. We also hope to challenge all stakeholders including parents, guardians, teachers, religious and community leaders, government, and organizations to enlist in this new army of social re-engineering and share CACTI’s positions in its novel approach to combat corruption and secure the future of our children.
