Spot on. Do please start with “tell me all about your day” Creating a safe space for kids to open up about their day is crucial. By asking about their day and sharing bits of yours age appropriately, you’re showing them that you’re interested and available. It’s a great way to build trust and encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings.

Sharing your own experiences, both ups and downs, helps kids see that adults go through struggles too, and it’s okay to talk about them. This can help them feel more comfortable coming to you with their own issues.

And this way you can find out about attempted or actual abuse as it’s not healthy to interrogate them daily, asking if someone touched them …. but by having regular, casual conversations, you’ll create an environment where they feel comfortable sharing anything that’s bothering them. It’s a subtle yet powerful way to protect them and help them develop healthy communication habits. VIDEO CREDIT: on video
