Last month, from October 14 to 16, manufacturers from across the country gathered in remarkable numbers for the three-day Made-in-Nigeria Exhibition and the Adeola Odutola Lecture, held alongside the 53rd Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).
It was yet another inspiring moment to celebrate the ingenuity and resilience of Nigerian manufacturers, as they showcased homegrown innovations and world-class manufactured products, all authentic 'Made in Nigeria' for Nigeria and the world.
It was equally an occasion for the advancement of the national conversation around the theme for the 53rd AGM: “Nigeria First: Prioritising Patronage of Made-in-Nigeria.” We harvested invaluable input for the unfolding Nigeria First policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
We were honoured to welcome His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, ably represented by the esteemed Honourable Minister of State for Industry, John Owan Enoh-JOE. He effectively delivered the reassuring keynote address of Mr. President, as he clearly outlined immediate steps to be taken to obviate some constraints militating against the performance of the industrial sector of the economy.
Our appreciation also goes to the Honourable Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, MFR, for joining us virtually and delivering a most supportive goodwill message.
We equally extend heartfelt gratitude to the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Odey, for honouring the event with his esteemed representation and joining us to champion the Nigeria First conversation.
This marks the beginning of a promising partnership between the State and MAN for the advancement of manufacturing.
We are particularly grateful to our distinguished guest speaker, Alhaji Aliko Dangote GCON, President of Dangote Industries, who was ably represented by Engr. Mansur Ahmed, President of Pan-African Manufacturers Association. His insights enriched the dialogue on shaping the Nigeria First Policy in such a way that it will boost the delivery of a virile and competitive manufacturing sector.
The ensuing panel discussion was expertly moderated by Prof. Ajai of the Lagos Business School and a distinguished panel comprising 3 of them. Their well-thought-out and varied perspectives enlightened the full capacity hall at the Lagos Oriental Hotel!
Our members, across the country, were simply magnificent in the support they gave to their national secretariat! The march to the MAN of the Future was greatly accelerated, and we thank you for furthering our leadership status in the African policy advocacy landscape.
We remain indebted to them for making the session such a satisfying value add.
To our sponsors, partners, exhibitors, visitors, and every stakeholder whose commitment and collaboration made this year’s event a remarkable success, we are immensely grateful.
