4th API Leadership Capacity Program Shines Bright in Ifako-Ijaiye.
The 4th edition of the API Leadership Capacity Program has been described as a resounding success, bringing together young leaders, community stakeholders, students, and dignitaries at the NRC Hall, Old Secretariat, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government.
Themed “Renewed Mindset II” with a sub-theme “Youth-Driven Community Development: The Impact of Education and Leadership,” the event marked a milestone in the initiative’s four-year journey.
Host Adeyemo Akeem welcomed participants, highlighting API’s commitment to training and equipping young people with leadership skills, volunteerism, and community development knowledge. Since the introduction of physical training sessions in 2022, the program has consistently nurtured a new generation of leaders to drive positive change.
The CDC Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye, Pastor Samuel Olu Opajobi, charged the youths to remain consistent, avoid shortcuts to success, and embrace community service. He encouraged them to emulate positive role models, shun bad company, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Dr. Oyeleye emphasized that leadership is built on vision and passion, urging participants to develop clear goals and pursue them with determination. Similarly, Mrs. Dawodu Abimbola stressed the importance of education, declaring that “Education is not a scam.” She advised youths to change their mindset, make informed decisions, and prioritize community service.
In his goodwill message, Deacon Banjo Omole, APC Chairman in Ifako-Ijaiye, praised the convener for continuously engaging the youth through leadership training. He urged participants to put lessons into practice and strive to excel both in their communities and across the nation.
The program was graced by notable personalities, including Hon. Adegbayibi John Adedeji, Councillor representing Ward D, who pledged support with 10 empowerment slots and announced a scholarship for one youth to receive AI training. Others in attendance included Comr. Olakunle Sholola (NUT Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye); Comr. Emmanuel Ayomase (NYCN Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye), representing the State Chairman Engr. Adigun Ibrahim; Comr. Alao Michael, representing Otunba Eyitayo Ogunmola of Eyi Eko Foundation; Mr. Saheed Oderinde; Mr. Taiwo Bakare, CEO Community Eye Magazine; and Comr. Segun Alagbe.
The event also featured two technology-focused training sessions: Artificial Intelligence for advertising and youth empowerment facilitated by Mr. Toyeeb Atata, and Data Analysis training led by Mr. Ayodele Onabowu.
With overwhelmingly positive feedback, the API Leadership Capacity Program continues to provide a platform for young people to develop leadership skills, gain knowledge, and network with like-minded individuals. Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to shaping the next generation of leaders in Ifako-Ijaiye and beyond.
