Meet the Director of Al-Hayat Zakat, Sadaqah & Waqf Foundation
In the steady stride toward organizational expansion and institutional excellence, Al-Hayat Relief Foundation recently witnessed a historic transition as the Directorate of Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf evolved into a fully registered foundation after obtaining certification from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). This significant milestone underscores Al-Hayat’s continuous drive to strengthen its philanthropic pillars and expand its reach in the areas of charity, endowment, and sustainable community development.
Since the transition, the new Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf Foundation has kick-started its operations with renewed energy, strategic direction, and a commitment to deepening the culture of institutionalized giving in line with Islamic principles. At the helm of this promising foundation is a visionary scholar and administrator, Mr. Oyedokun Olaitan Azeez, who assumed office as Director on June 15, 2025, marking the beginning of a new era of structured management and impact-driven service delivery.
Born on October 1st and a native of Osun State, Mr. Oyedokun is a devoted family man known for his humility, integrity, and passion for Islamic scholarship. His academic journey reflects a blend of discipline, purpose, and intellectual depth. He obtained a Diploma from the University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) and later earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Islamic Studies from the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Islamic Studies at the same institution.
Mr. Oyedokun’s research interests center around Islamic Socio-Finance, Economics, and Islamic Studies Education, with a strong focus on how Islamic financial principles can be practically applied to promote social justice, economic empowerment, and sustainable development in Muslim communities. His scholarship and professional engagements reveal a deep understanding of both the theoretical foundations and the real-world implications of Islamic financial systems, charity administration, and educational reform.
Over the years, he has been involved in several community-based and academic initiatives aimed at empowering individuals through faith-inspired knowledge, ethical leadership, and moral reawakening. His calm demeanor, analytical mind, and inclusive leadership style have earned him respect among colleagues, students, and community members alike.
As the new Director of the Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf Foundation, Mr. Oyedokun Olaitan Azeez brings a wealth of experience, scholarly insight, and spiritual conviction. His leadership is expected to strengthen the operational framework of the foundation, ensure transparency and accountability in fund management, and foster impactful programs that uplift lives while remaining faithful to Islamic teachings on charity and social welfare.
