A FOOLISH GOD, BUT WISER THAN MEN
"For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength" (1 Corinthians 1:25). God is not foolish in context, but His ways may seem foolish to some who understand it as wise. When a man follows God's ways, he preserves himself from destruction, but when he feels he knows it all, he is only preparing himself for a huge failure. You can't follow God using your five senses. God can't be served with human schemes, deceit, and self-righteousness. There are many acts that may seem foolish to you, but they are actually divine wisdom for you.
1. Relying on the Invisible God
Based on human wisdom, it is foolishness to totally rely on or depend on an invisible God you don't see. Many people think they are wise by serving the visible, no wonder they can't let go of idols. To them, it is wisdom because these idols respond to their demands faster. They even say God is too slow in action. However, "We walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).
2. Forgiveness and Mercy
Based on human wisdom, you don't forgive and forget those who deeply hurt you. You must respond because it is a sign of strength. They say that whenever you fail to react to an offense, it's a sign of true weakness and fear. But "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger...and be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32).
3. Faithfulness in Relationships
Based on human wisdom, a true man, a true Odogwu as the Igbos call it, is a man who is able to take up more than one wife. However, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled" (Hebrews 13:4). "But each one must live in a way that is worthy of the calling he has received, with humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love" (Ephesians 4:1-2).
4. Living Wisely
Have you heard these words, 'something must kill a man'? Well, people believe in these words by doing wrong things. But "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?" (1 Corinthians 6:19). Relying on God's wisdom may be foolish in the sight of men, but His wisdom will keep you. You won't die a puppet. God's wisdom is the opposite of these points above. Serve God and rely on Him sincerely, forgive those who offended you, run away from adultery, and stay healthy.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).
