Yesterday’s NDC primary was historic. After a spirited contest, Ol’eru Innocent Adoga emerged as the flagbearer for Oju/Obi Federal Constituency.

In a remarkable show of unity, his worthy opponent Mrs. Mary Odije Obarike stepped down and declared her full support. She called Ol’eru the leader Oligede needs at the moment, pledging her full support for his candidacy and encouraged party members to stand by him and canvass support for him.

Ol’eru Innocent hailed her as the “Heroine of the Gathering” and charged Igede women to rise and take their rightful place in leadership and community development.

His message is clear: “I’m not pursuing a political position, but a vision for the New Igede.”

In the coming days, we will share with you, the great plans he has to implement for Oju/Obi following his election, through your support.

Our youths should resolve to work for their kind. One who understands this time and age, yet not disconnected from the realities of our parents back at home.

Ol’eru Innocent Adoga is that leader — a proud son of Igede soil, a man whose heart beats for our community’s growth, unity, and dignity. He is the embodiment of the “Igede we want”: bold, visionary, and deeply committed to uplifting every family, every youth, and every village in our land.

There is no family in Oju or Obi without a farmer or two. And Ol'eru Innocent Adoga, being a farmer himself, understands that the backbone of Oju/Obi’s economy is its hardworking farmers. Yet, too many of our farmers face challenges that limit their productivity and profitability.

Supporting him is supporting a leader who will champion the cause of agricultural mechanization and build a more profitable, efficient market chain that empowers every farmer in our constituency.

Ol'eru Innocent Adoga is committed to:

- Driving Agricultural Mechanization:

Empowering farmers across Oju/Obi via the introducing modern farming equipment and technologies to reduce labor intensity, increase yields, and make farming more sustainable and attractive to our youth - he has done this time and again, granted the opportunity, with your support, he will do even more.

- Creating Profitable Market Chains:

Building infrastructure and partnerships that connect farmers directly to buyers, reduce exploitation by middlemen, and ensure fair prices for farm produce.

- Boosting the Farming Economy:

Supporting initiatives that provide access to credit, training, and resources, enabling farmers to expand their operations and improve livelihoods. Boosting the farming economy is seamlessly tantamount to building and growing the overall Igede-economy.

Oleru Innocent Adoga understands that these are not the office's primary roles of legislation and oversight but he is willing to go beyond these scopes and even beyond boosting our agriculture, but delve greatly into human-capital development, using the lobbying skills he has built over the years.

Now, there is an opening and many applicants have submitted or are submitting their CVs for your perusal. What you must do is X-ray them based on what they had done in the past, in their previous roles they have held.

As it is said, the best predictor of the future is the past.

Ol'eru Innocent Adoga has been everywhere with you, both in Oju and Obi. With notable and visible interventions without holding an elective position. The rice mills, the motorized boreholes, the empowerment with seedlings, the Farm School and several other Igede-Focused Interventions.

He is willing to do more, counting on your support and of the support of those you can canvass. Rally round this fine gentleman, he is our best shot in the next election.

The reported communal conflict between Adiko Community in Obi and Etee Community in Oju is tragic, deeply saddening, and utterly unacceptable. The injurious harms meted out at one another and destruction of homes is a wound to all of us in Igede land, and it must end immediately.

No dispute over land can ever justify the spilling of Igede blood or the burning of homes. We condemn this violence in the strongest terms, because when one part of Oju/Obi bleeds, the whole constituency suffers.

At this moment, true courage is not in retaliation but in restraint. We appeal to every youth and community member involved to lay down all weapons and choose peace. You cannot defend your heritage by destroying the very people and homes that carry it.

This is also the hour for leadership. We are calling on our revered elders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders across Oju and Obi to rise without delay and open the doors to dialogue and reconciliation. Every grievance has a table where it can be settled as against a battlefield. Ol'eru Innocent Adoga is ready to support any sincere process that restores brotherhood and calm.

To the security agencies working to contain this crisis, we say thank you. We urge you to continue protecting all lives and property with utmost professionalism, impartiality, and restraint. And to our people, we plead: cooperate with them. They are there to stop the bleeding, not to take sides.

Igede land is big enough for all of us. We have farmed together, schooled together, traded together, and buried our dead together. That shared history must now be stronger than any division. The cycle of violence only guarantees that our children will inherit ashes.

As a House of Representatives hopeful, Innocent Adoga speaks for all of Oju/Obi. We cannot attract development, jobs, or federal attention while we are at war with ourselves. Our future is tied together; Adiko and Etee, Oju and Obi.

Let us stand firmly for peace, justice, and the well-being of every community in Oju/Obi Federal Constituency. We empathize and share in the pain of every family affected by this sad occurrence. We stand with every child forced from home, every farmer cut off from his land, every trader whose livelihood is now in ruins.

We also enjoin everyone to choose life over land. Choose each other over anger. Choose peace, today.

To Comr. Omeno Daniel, the newly elected President and his entire EXCOs, your election marks a significant milestone in the continued advancement, unity, and cultural preservation of our people across Oju and Obi.

Omi Ny’Igede remains a voice of our collective identity, and the compass for Igede’s socio-cultural and economic aspirations.

We commend your commitment to preserving our rich cultural heritage, promoting social cohesion, and fostering development within our communities. The peaceful and dignified process that produced this new leadership reflects the maturity, wisdom, and unity that define the Igede spirit.
