The way we tell a child’s story matters.
In cases of child domestic abuse, media reporting should protect—not expose. Every headline, image, and detail has the power to either safeguard a child’s dignity or deepen their trauma.
This Child Abuse Prevention Month, we’re calling on media professionals and the public to uphold ethical reporting:
•Protect identities
•Avoid sensationalism
•Center the child’s safety and dignity
•Report responsibly, not recklessly

Because awareness should never come at the cost of a child’s wellbeing.
See something? Say something. Speak up responsibly.

Not all abuse leaves visible scars.
Behind closed doors, many children face:
• Emotional abuse
• Neglect
• Excessive punishment
• Exploitation disguised as “discipline”
It happens in silence.
It hides in plain sight.
And too often, it is normalized.
A “home” should be a place of safety, not fear.
Let’s pay attention to the signs:
* Withdrawal or fearfulness,
* Sudden behavioral changes,
* Lack of access to school or rest,
* Unexplained injuries or distress.

Speaking up can save a child.

Let’s break the silence.
Let’s protect every child.

‎“Living with relatives hasn't stopped my education, shouldn’t my resilience be encouraged?”

‎At Millennium Secondary School, CAPRIGHTS-VP didn’t just hold another session, we created a safe space for strength to be expressed and supported.

‎During our session, conversations went beyond awareness. We engaged the students in meaningful dialogue about their rights, dignity, and protection, reminding them that regardless of where they live, their value remains unchanged.

‎A dedicated Safe Space session was held, allowing students to speak freely, ask questions, and share experiences without fear or judgment.
‎We also carried out psychosocial support activities designed to help the children process emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Through guided interactions and reflective exercises, the room slowly transformed into a circle of trust, reassurance, and empowerment.
‎Because child protection is not only about information, it is about emotional safety, it is about resilience, it is about equipping children with the tools to thrive.

‎At CAPRIGHTS-VP, we remain committed to showing up, not just to educate, but to support, strengthen, and safeguard every child’s future.

Who is a Child Domestic Worker?
A child domestic worker is any child under 18 who is engaged in household tasks in someone else’s home, often cooking, cleaning, caring for children, or running errands.
But here’s what we must understand:
This is not just “helping out.”
Many of these children:
• Are separated from their families
• Work long hours without rest
• Are denied education
• Face neglect, exploitation, or abuse
Behind closed doors, their childhood is often taken away.
Every child deserves:
Education
Protection
Love and care
A safe space to grow
Let’s speak up. Let’s protect them.
Childhood is not for labour.
